warning: chapter contains violence

The sound of rain drops hitting the ground resonated in the streets while a little boy watched from his window upstairs.

His parents were fighting again.

A young child at his age wouldn't understand, the only feelings he could comprehend was sadness and happiness.

It was this day, that everything has changed forever.

His mother left and never came back.

"Get up, Changbin." His father's stern voice felt like a different person.

"Dad, when will mom be home?" He asked, sitting at their front porch with his toy cars.

"I said, get up Changbin. Don't make me mad." His father gave him a cold stare intimidating him to the bones.

Little Changbin's lips curved down and tears started forming in his eyes.

"Is mommy mad at me because I don't pick up my toys after I play with them?" His words started to wobble.

"Can you tell her I promise to be a good boy-"

"Seo Changbin!" His father shouted, startling the little boy and immediately stopped talking, covering his ears.

His father crouched down to his level and held his shoulders, looking at him in the eyes.

"Your mother is never coming back so stop looking for her, okay?"

"Just forget about her. She probably doesn't care about us anymore. She's with her new family now."

He will always remember that scent his father had that day and it never changed since then.

"He's been reeking of alcohol for years now, I won't be surprised if he starts decaying like that."

Changbin mumbles as he watched his father snoring on the couch with cans of beer and bottles of alcohol everywhere in the living room.

This had been his everyday life since his mother left.

His auntie was the only one who helped them get back on their feet. She offered his father a job and to sponsor his education.

Changbin wasn't the best son while living under the roof of a broken family and an alcoholic father. He admits he's a trash and acted like an asshole, blaming everything on everyone.

However, he realized that's just a part of growing up. People make mistakes and learn through them. It's not their fault that the world was against them and was robbed of a life that they deserve, but it doesn't justify their wrong doings and should still be held accountable of their actions.

Although, it's actually not that easy. It is what Changbin is currently working on right now, he doesn't even know if he's doing it right.

"Screw Hyunjin, I don't need his help." Changbin kicks off a little rock at the ground as he walked the empty alleyway.

After walking a little more, at the corner of the street, a group of people were gathered.

The smell of cigarettes became stronger as he approached the area.

"Seo Changbin, long time no see." A man says, smoking a large tobacco as he held it between his fingers.

"I got the money so let's get this done already." Changbin says, straight to the point.

The man chuckles and blows off a smoke out of his lips. "What's the rush Changbin? You got a date or something?"

"I heard you were dating some guy and was beaten up by Tan or something. Come on, we're friends! Let's catch up with each other like other friends do, hm?" The man teases.

"I'm here to pay my debt, nothing else." Changbin replies.

The man says.

"You never change kid." The man says and inhales his tobacco one last time before reaching for the bag with money from Changbin.

Two guys checked the inside of the bag and nods, signaling the man for confirmation.

"Okay, hold him down."

Changbin's eyes widened as soon as he heard the man's orders. He started to panic when the rest of the guys started approaching him.

"What is this? I paid everything off!" Changbin says, resisting to be held but he was outnumbered. Someone kicked his leg, forcing him to kneel down to the floor.

"You're not special Changbin just because we're friends. You know how we treat everyone who leaves the gang, traitors." The man says before signaling the guys to beat him up.

Before he can even fight back and resist, he was already on the ground, defenseless.

Just as he was going to lose consciousness, he heard a familiar voice, screaming at the top of their lungs.

He knew exactly who it was.

"No, Felix..." He tried to stand up but his body would not allow him, and lost consciousness instead.

The next thing he knew when he woke up, he was already lying in bed at the hospital. Next to him was a boy crying while covering his face and leaning on the edge of the bed.

Felix felt the latter moving and lift up his head, revealing tears stains in his face and a few more falling down his eyes.

"Changbin..." Felix's voice was shaking as he called his name.

"You should not move yet, the doctor said you need to rest." He says, pushing Changbin back when he noticed him trying to get out of bed.

"What happened? How did you find me?" Changbin asked.

"I was just-"

"You shouldn't have done that." Changbin says, cutting him off before he could even explain anything.

"What do you mean?" Felix frowned.

"You should've just minded your own business. You don't know those guys, you could've been hurt too." Changbin's tone hurt Felix.

It was as if he did something wrong, when in fact, all he did was save Changbin.

"Changbin, you could have died?" Felix couldn't believe what he was hearing from this guy's mouth.

"Actually, that might've been better than you messing with my life." Changbin replies making Felix speechless

He stood up, wiping the tears off his cheeks.

He's had enough.

"You're ever so welcome, Seo Changbin." Felix says sarcastically before leaving with heavy stomps of rage.

Changbin just sighs and stared at the ceiling before closing his eyes to sleep.
