Unless your character is a superhero or supernatural being (which should be avoided unless it's part of a fandom), or if powers are accepted in the fandom, DO NOT GIVE YOUR CHARACTER POWERS. And if powers are canon in your fandom, don't give them generic or unreasonable powers. An example of generic powers is elemental powers, such as fire or water. Brainstorm your own stupid powers, god dammit! An example of unreasonable powers is mocha frappucino powers (believe me, I've seen them), because WHY WOULD YOU EVEN DO THAT!? We get it. You like mocha frappucinos. DON'T MAKE THEM YOUR STUPID POWER. Also, you should be slightly concerned for your mental state if you like mocha frappucinos so much that you make them your character's power.
