Chapter 1: Let's Play A Game
(Darius) As we were escaping there was a missile launched from wherever towards Coliride Daevon's emergency missile plan must've worked out. There was a smaller missile that came from the building and as the other neared the community a mass explosion between the two colliding caused what I think all of Richmond to shake. The shockwaves of the blast were going all over Richmond we managed to drive into a tunnel like area which had flipped the car over. This severely wounded Marie and Catherine. The rest of us had blacked out for an unknown period of time.
We woke up in what seemed to be a group home nursing us back to life. This one girl who had bright brown eyes and short brunette hair and seemed like she could be in her early twenties. She was taking care of me.  "You're finally awake." Said the girl. "How long was I out for?" "You're the first to get up, but it's been a couple of months since the explosion in Richmond." "What about the others?" "Four of your friends woke up but the rest are still in a coma. We've been using a lot of our resources to keep them steady and alive. It is unknown like your case on when they'll wake up." "What is your name?" "Rosie." "Thank you for taking care of me." "Of course. I'll take you to the rest of your group. They've gotten pretty acclimated to our group." "How many of you are there?" "There's twelve of us. Me and my younger brother included." "What made you want to help us for so long?" "You ask a lot of questions." She said laughing it off. Maybe she was hiding something as everyone tends to, but I had no time to think about that I just wanted to get to the group.
When I got to the lounge area of the house Daevon, Danny, and Catherine were there. "Hey guys." I said, and just the sound of my voice they all ran and hugged me. "We missed you,"they all said. I looked around looking for the fourth person and didn't see anyone from my group there. "Rosie didn't you say four of us woke up?" "Oh yes I forgot to mention that." "Mention what?" "Anthony woke up, but he hasn't left Makaylas room once ever since." Said Daevon I was gonna go say hi but according to the group he only answered for food and if Rose had any news of her condition. "What about Marie?" "I usually check on her twice a day and she's been moving here and there, but hasn't woken up yet." Said Catherine I wanted to go see the others anyway so Rose told me where to find Marie first. While I was walking there I bumped into a guy who definitely was Rose's brother. He had the same dark hair and similar skin color to hers. "Oh you're finally awake." "Yeah what is your name?" "Rocco. I'm Rosie's brother." "I figured you look so much like her." "But I'm definitely the cooler one. Rosie takes everything so seriously, but I think there's always time to chill and you gotta during the apocalypse." " I agree though I am more known to take things seriously." "Maybe you should take a break and chill here with us." "I'll see about that after I check on my friends." I made my way to Marie's room and she looked like she was completely beaten up from the crash. She had a few scars on her face that were healing nicely but everything else made her look like she was already dead. I couldn't imagine what Makayla would have looked like if this was Marie. "Hey Marie. I finally woke up if you can hear me. This place seems pretty nice and I hope you'll wake up soon so you can see it." She did what Catherine said were her hand movements slightly twitching them to the sound of my voice. "If you can hear me just know we'll be waiting for you." I went across the room to Makayla's room which was locked. I knocked and asked Anthony to let me in and I got no response. I tried but after a few minutes of knocking he opened the door. "Hey Darius." "Hey dude how are you?" "I'm fine." He seemed so different from before. His communication had an average of about two words and he hadn't opened the door to anyone that I knew of  before which must've meant some kind of progress. I went in and Makayla looked like a hybrid between the walkers and people. The crash left her with scars everywhere and she had been alive just due to life support and some medicine Rosie injected into her every few hours to keep her stable. "She's been like this for months. And I don't know what I'll do if she dies like this. I won't even be able to say goodbye." "You can't think like that. You need to stay positive for her and yourself even if it seems like she's on her deathbed you have to stay strong." "Thanks for coming." "I can stay if you want." "No. Please go." And with that I left.
I suppose that Rosie was the leader of this group as she was both a nurse and intelligent survivor. They had a food supply to last for years maybe. They said they got it from all the farmland they had owned close to the coastlines. They had windmills to supply electricity and seemed full functioning. It was isolated from everywhere as we as I've been told are in North Carolina. There wasn't a soul nearby except for us. "Guys come and eat Nates finishing dinner." Rocco said enthusiastically. There were multiple tables, but they wanted to promote inclusion of both groups so only two per group could sit together at a table. Anthony stayed with Makayla in the medical wing. I sat with Danny and Rocco and Rosie sat with us. Daevon and Catherine sat together with Nate and this girl named Rebecca. The other members sat with themselves or went to go take care of Marie and Makayla. "So where are you guys from?" Rocco asked. "New York what about you two?" "We're from there too. Surprised we didn't bump into you until now." "How'd you guys get all the way down here?" "We started out with our family, but got separated when HerdX came. Now it's just me and this bozo." Rosie said. "How'd you guys find us?" "We saw a car driving towards the tunnels and we saw it flip over, but we were covered and we ran to help you guys. We're heading down to Florida since it's the middle of fall and we don't want to be stranded out in the snow with z's. What about you guys where were you going?" "We were just trying to regroup after herdx since we got separated. We don't know where we're going unless you have any ideas Darius?" "Nope we're just going wherever the road takes us." "You should stay with us." Said Rosie. "We appreciate all of your help, but we don't tend to have good luck in big groups like this." "What are you gonna do then? Your truck had all of your stuff which kinda got destroyed.''Rocco said, and he was right we really didn't have anything going for us except this place. And I had no idea where to go except Florida.
(Daevon) "This food is so good Nate." "Thanks dude it was nothing crazy." I was the first one out of everyone to wake up and got to be pretty chill around everyone. There was this one girl Nikkia that I had gotten pretty close to, but she worked in the medical wing always taking care of Makayla and Marie. "How are you guys doing? I know you are still waiting for the others to wake up. Nikkia says that they're getting better and should wake up soon." "Yeah I mean now that Darius is awake we can try and figure out what we're gonna do." "You should try and convince him to stay. You already feel like our family, so you should at least tell him that it's worth it to stay here." Catherine and I really got acclimated to these people. They weren't like the other groups and we've stayed with them for so long it couldn't hurt to stay with them until we get to Florida. "I'll see what I can do." "Everyone come meet at our table. Let's play a game." Said Rocco.
(Darius) "What kind of game?" "A card game. Whoever gets the lowest card has to answer a question truthfully or do a dare." "So it's truth or dare." I said, we all gathered around and Catherine gave out the cards. We drew one card each and Rebecca got the lowest number. "Truth or dare." I said, "Truth." "Is this place really worth it?" "Honestly yes we have so much food and safe walls not to mention medical professionals and some like my friend Nikkia are in training. So yes it's worth it." We then drew another set of cards and Daevon got the lowest number. "Truth or dare." Said Rebecca, "Truth." "Do you want to stay here?" "Yep." "It's really that good?" I said, and he responded with a nod. We played two more rounds. Next, Rocco got the lowest number. "Truth or dare." Said Daevon, "Truth." "Do you like our group?" "Yeah you guys are pretty nice." And the final round I got the lowest number. "Truth or dare." "Truth of course." "Are you gonna stay?" I didn't really know I mean we have everything in our favor here and they seem so nice. It couldn't hurt to expand our group a little. "Hell yeah we'll stay!"
Then a girl came out running towards us with Anthony. "Guys Makayla and Marie woke up!"
