Crystal POV

"What?!" I removed the phone from my ears before the person on the other end could render me deaf.

"I said that we can break the news to Annie Christmas day and everyone else," I repeated a little louder and slower for him to hear me and understand if I wasn't clear the first time.

"I heard what you said but I have other plans that day. Couldn't we do this after Christmas?" He asked hopefully.

"Sure."

"Really?" His relief voice and shocked voice came to my ears.

"Yeah just make sure when she doesn't get to meet you on Christmas you can explain what was so important than her that you couldn't make it," I replied.

"What about before could we do that?" He asked eagerly and I wonder what could be more important than meeting his daughter.

"I told her Christmas Ethan. Not Christmas Eve or the day after." I said getting tired of this conversation. I don't know why we are having it. I had already to him Christmas what's the deal now that he wants to change. I was just reminding him so he doesn't forget since he's no to having a child.

"You could just make up another lie you're really good at that and other things." He said frustrated. I know he resents me for taking his daughter from him but it's not my fault he has other plans. Who had plans on Christmas anyway? Him apparently.

"I'm not going to lie to my daughter anymore." I was annoyed with his attitude. "If you make it or not it's fine with me but I'm not going to lie anymore. I'll just tell her that you couldn't make it I'll rather deal with her disappointments than feeding her more lies. Bye Ethan." I rant angrily.

This wouldn't have happened if I had just come clean years ago but what happens happened and I can't change it and I'm trying.

I'm trying to give my daughter and Ethan what I've deprived them off and that's each other. I don't want to keep them apart or dance around the truth of why she doesn't have a father and keep him in that dark.

"Mom could you watch Annie for me I'm going out," I shouted from the bottom of the stairs.

She didn't answer but I know she heard me since she is grumbling something incoherent.

I just need to get a few things at the store. I'll be back before they know it. I needed the fresh air too since I haven't really left the house after coming in from the airport.

I stopped by the usual grocery store I had a shop in when I was living here. I walked in taking a basket with me since I'm only shopping for myself and a little for my daughter. It isn't much so I walk through the familiar aisle collecting what I need then going to the cash register. A man was before me so I had to wait until the teenager behind the cash register was done with him.

She looked like a 16, 17 year old with highlights in her hair heavy mascara under her eyes popping her gum careless only stopping to tell the man his bill then starting again.

It was my turn so I walked to the cash register. I put the basket on the countertop to start taking out the stuff but someone tapped me on my shoulder.

"Excuse me, " I turned around to see a woman smiling at me. "Could I just cash this before you? I really have to go somewhere, " she explains.

She was only cashing two items so I moved aside to make her go before. "Sure, " I smiled and she returned it walking up to the counter giving the cashier her two items.

"Thank you, " she said collecting her things then leaving.

I put the bags in the back seat slamming the door going over to the driver's side and left the parking lot going back to my parent's house.
