Getting out of bed was even harder than usual today. I dont know if it was from the lack of sleep or Gyles laying almost completely on top of me.

Lucky guys wake up with morning wood or it would've been an awkward explanation.

When Gyles woke up he blushed even more than he usually did and fell off the other side of my bed, which then resulted in me laughing at him and him punching me.

"Not funny Logan." he said in a stern voice, which made me laugh even harder.

"On the contrary it was quite hilarious." I tried making my voice sound noble, but laughed and failed.

"I'm making breakfast and ignoring you."

"You cant ignore me for long, training partner."

"I wanna switch, Alex seems like a nice partner."

"Until he flirts with you and you turn into a tomato again."

"Ughhh Im making breakfast, do you want any?"

"Just a bowl of fruit, Ill be out in a minute."

He left the room trying to hide his grin. I loved seeing him happy.

I finally got out of bed and walked into the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror, seeing a stranger. I looked like him. I have my mothers eyes, but the rest? Almost identical.

I quickly washed my face and brushed my teeth. Everyone was already in the kitchen, and Gyles handed me a bowl of fruit once I walked in.

We all ate and talked about future plans and homelife.

"So Logan, If your father is a gang leader, how did you get a job with the agency? Alex asked while stuffing his face with eggs."

"My dad abandoned me after my mom died. Donald took me in and trained me." It wasnt a secret, you could look at anyones files in the agency and see where they came from. Its intent was an extra safety precaution in case someone went rogue, but most people use it to be nosey.

"Did he kill her? Is that why you want to kill him?"

"No, she died from cancer. I want to kill him because he was a shitty father and a shitty human being."

"Oh, Im sorry." The table went silent.

"Its not a big deal, I barely knew her. She died when I was 5. Anyways we have training in an hour, don't be late."

I walked away from the table and back into the bedroom. It was the truth that I barely knew her, but I really wish she was the one who lived. How would my life have played out if she was the one who lived instead of my father? Would I still have met Gyles?

My thoughts were interrupted when Gyles walked in the room.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I just dont like sharing my personal life with people I barely know. They always give me those pity eyes."

"Yeah I get it, they still respect you tho. They were just saying how strong you are."

"Out of pity. Regardless of if they think I'm strong or weak, they are still going to pity me."

"I think you are looking way too much into this. They want to get closer to you, so why dont you let them? I dont want to push you into something you are uncomfortable with but maybe think about it?"

He was probably right, but letting people in is hard. You never know who is going to betray you in the end.

"Ill try."
