Alexis Nunez
It's been a month since the shooting, Olivia has been recovering but every night she stays awake. She told me she's been seeing the consoler about it. Spencer has been healing but wants to play football more than ever. After school cheer practice started becoming one hours, and then maybe a weekend practice the team needs it. After today's practice I was walking to my locker when I saw Olivia. "Hey." "Hey how are you feeling?" "Eh." "Hey What are you still doing here?" "I've been talking to the school counselor a couple days a week." She told Leila. The three of us started walking towards the parking lot. "Oh I listened the latest episode of your podcast." "It was really good." "So good, just keeps getting better and better." "Thanks, Wait Why are you still doing here?" "Uh extra credit, I'm still trying to dig myself out of that hole I dug when I skipped all those classes." "At least you seem happy." "I'm just looking forward to what's next for me." The two continued talking about Leila's future in music. "And whenever you are ready to share some of that music, I have got at least fifty people willing to listen to it." "Fifty or fifteen?" "Fifty?" "Fifty." "One five or five zero?" "Five zero." "Woah." We walked to our cars saying goodbye to each other.
After practice I've been spending most of my time in Crenshaw whether it's with Dillion or Darnell. Usually I pick Darnell up from the school and we'll get Dillion from a friends. "Hey babe." "Hey." I smiled kissing him before he put on his seatbelt. He played music through the speakers on our way to pick up Dillion. I took us to the house, we all sat in the living room doing homework. "I'm done, I'm going to play games on my computer." "Okay." I said watching him leave the room. "This whole algebra thing is not working for me." "That's because your doing it wrong." "But I'm doing what it says." I rolled my eyes showing him the problem. "Oh I get it subtract then it equals. What's that?" "It's business, I had to retake it." "Why'd you have to do that?" "Last year wasn't the best for me." "Do you want to talk about it?" "Do you?" "Yeah, I wanna know everything about you." "Okay... Uh let's see, freshman year I started selling prescription drugs I'd find in my house. That summer I got addicted to anything but mostly pills, and in Beverly we have mixer pots of pills. It took for my best friend to almost over dose for me to stop." "And you did sports?" "Yeah, I actually was able to finesse every drug test for an injury." "Are you good now, I mean like." "I'm good I don't do anything." "I'm glad you told me, that we can tell each other that kind of stuff." "So what's the crazy thing about you?" "I mean I've only smoked weed, and I think one time molly." "Wait really?" "Yeah." He chuckled. We finished our homework cuddling on the couch. "So an in house visit?" "Yeah, he should be here soon." Just like clockwork there was a knock on the door. We both got up, "Wait a besito." I whined he shook his head kissing me. I opened the door for the coach and myself. "Hello." "Darnell, In House visit." "I'll see you tomorrow morning." "Yeah." He smiled watching me get in the car before focusing himself with the coach.
The next morning, I got ready to go out to breakfast with Darnell like we've been doing every weekend. We wake up and go get something before everyone gets up. "Hey." "Hey." He smiled getting in the car. "So whatcha thinking?" "Smoothies." "Smoothies, okay. Slauson?" "Yeah thats cool." We went to the cafe ordering two smoothies to go, today he had the tour at UCLA and the boys are suppose to pick him up but I don't know what time. I figured we could chill at the house. "Are you excited, UCLA is a big deal." "Yeah, I am. It's my dream school, like everything is moving into place for me." I smiled walking Into the house. "Morning you two." "Morning." "So are you two gonna tell us y'all dating?" Grace asked. "We are just close friends." We said in unison. "What's up Alexis." "Hey bud." "I'm gonna take him to his big brother class and be back." "Okay."
We were laying on Darnell's bed kissing and cuddling when miss Grace called for him. We both got up looking in the mirrors before going out. "Who are you?" "Mom what are you doing here?" "I'm here to take you home." I looked at miss Grace sitting on the couch next to her. "I'm not going." "Is it because of this little girl. Darnell you are coming with me to Germany." "Is it I get a turn to talk now?" "You don't get a vote." The front door opened I turned to see Jordan and Spencer. "Okay so I have no say in my future?" "Excuse me since when do you raise your voice at me?" "What's going on?" "Spencer this is Renee, Darnell's mom. Renee that's my boy and his friend Jordan." "She's here to take me back with her to Germany with her." "It's time for you to come home." "That's not my home am, I ain't going." "I'm just gonna wait in the car." Jordan said trying to leave, so Darnell got up walking toward the door. "No, we are all leaving." "Sit down. We are not finished here." "Yeah we are." "Huh?" "Uh lets go bro." He told the boys. "Darnell. You better turn around, Darnell?" He walked out the door probably to Jordan's car. "You boys got a big UCLA visit to go to. Go. I'll take care of this. And Alexis you too, don't you have practice." "Yes ma'am." I got up walking out the door. "Hey, call me and tell me how it goes." I told Darnell passing the car, he nodded. I know he isn't in he best mood so I let it go.
