Twelve: High School Graduation

It was high school graduation, and I was nervous. Zach was comforting me in the commons room.

"You'll be ok, Kira. I swear, if you fret another time, I'll be nervous!" He said, making me laugh.

We went backstage. Our gym had a stage in it, and a door leading to it, in the music room. We laughed and cracked jokes as we waited in our robes.

"Kira Anderson?"

Oh boy...

I walked onstage. Man, it was bright! After the principle shook my hand, I approached the podium.

"Hello staff, and my fellow pupils. Welcome, parents, to the 2031 graduation! I am pleased to announce that four of the graduates will receive letters to the Stanford University today. All of the seniors have sent applications to the school, but unfortunately, four will be accepted. Furthermore, here are the winning applicants!" I announced, before the principle, Mr. Willis, came forward.

"Hello parents and relatives. May I say that this school year has been one of the best years yet. This bunch of young adults will be great in the near future. This year, it's sad to say, I will be retiring after 43 years in the school district. Moreover, I would like to announce the four college applicants who have won a scholarship to the Stanford school..."
