Emma was now, to be exact, five and a half months along. She was moody and had morning sickness the worst. I had the nursery all painted, though.
It was a baby boy. We decided to name him Zach, after my late little brother. Zachary was a feisty one, he was kicking a lot. Emma had an appointment today, and was being driven by my mother.
I really need to work out, I thought. Being that Emma was pregnant, I didn't have much me time. She woke up with backaches, and needed to have me make food for her, and other stuff. Once, I even had to run to the store for ice cream. I know, I know... no big deal. But she wanted BACON ice cream (I put bacon bits into vanilla ice cream).
I was sitting in the armchair I'd put in the nursery when Emma came in.
"Hey, you aren't supposed to be in here!" I told her.
"Who's stopping me? I'm like a heavy load," she said.
"Yeah, you need a caution sign on your back," I teased. She stuck out her tongue.
"Oh, you want to play that game?" I said, coming over. She smiled and kissed me.
Life: a thing humans need to cherish, for it is long, and it is short.
And, life is also what appears to be forming inside my beloved wife.
