Yashiro's POV
I had been slowly recovering. I think I could go back to school. Aoi-chan must be worried about me. I heard there is a new boy in the school. He is said to be an orphan and good looking but I would not know.I am still excited to see him. And Kou as well as Hanako-kun. We still have to get through this year together.
The next day
"Aoi-chan!!!!" I screamed as I ran up to hug my best friend. She was crying with joy.
"I thought you were going to die!! Are you alright? You still look a little pale. Have you had your-" I cut her off."I'm fine, Aoi. You haven't told me what happened at the school. Anything new?" Her eyes widened and then, she smiled. We caught up on ever so much gossip.
"Have you heard, Nene-chan? There is a new rumour. A Spirit that used to be an excellent archer is roaming the hallways of this school. Rumour has it that, over 100 years ago, he had so much bad luck because he exchanged his luck for his skills as an archer. He always shot arrows faster any faster than any other, so precise that it could pierce through a target like paper. Now he brings bad luck to others with his arrows. He is the Unlucky Archer." Aoi told me, having an ominous aura to her.
"That is so scary! Why would he trade his luck for skill? Who did he trade it with?" I asked, shivering with fear.
"I'm not sure but I heard that it was an Oni!" She replied. I took me a while to absorb all that was said to me. Then Aoi broke the silence."Say Nene, have you seen the new guy? He is so mysterious. No one knows where he came from or why he joined this school. I have heard that he barely speaks but he is nice. His name is Ikare Minako and he seems to be popular with the girls as well." She said. Aoi took a look at her watch before she started to walk away.
"Sorry, Nene-Chan. I have to go for class now. See you!" She waved before running off.Something felt off. Then, I realised that she did not have a watch before but I did not get the chance to ask her about it. I walked to class but I made a pit stop at the girl's bathroom.
"Hanako-kun! Are you here?" I shouted. At first, he did not respond so I thought he was on the roof or something. Then I felt his hands cover my eyes and he whispered in my ear,
"Guess who?" His breath tickled my neck and for some reason, sent shivers down my back. I giggled.
"Stop playing around, Hanako-kun! I need to go for class soon. I just came here to check up on you."
"Awwww, my poor Daikon can't stay long." He responded, lifting his hands as he did. Then, his face hardened.
"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be resting at home?" He said, concerned.
"The doctor said I made a good recovery. I am slowly getting better. So I decided to check up on my friends here." I replied. Hanako-kun frowned before smiling."Well then, are you well enough to start on bathroom cleaning again?" He said, his devious, cheshire smile playing on his lips. I gulped. One of the problems with getting better. He held up a bucket of water and held it over my head.
"Well, I better get to class." I said before running away. This surprised Hanako-kun long enough to give me ample time to run.
"Run!!!" My brain was screaming. I reached class in time to greet the teacher.Time skip to Lunch Break
After I caught up with all the assignments I missed, I ran for the cafeteria. Unfortunately, I rammed into someone without noticing and we both crashed onto the floor. I looked up to see a Senior. He looked to be about 6 foot tall and towered over my figure.
"Sorry for bumping into you but I do think that you should be more careful before running around." He said in a deep, rich voice."S-sorry I was just rushing for my lunch." I said, my head down. I felt a hand lift my chin and I faced the person. My face burned as he seemed to study my face. I looked into the deep brown eyes, their pupils studying every detail about me, through the black rimmed glasses. His face was pale but his facial features were sharp, contrasting each other.
"No need to feel ashamed. We all make mistakes. I am Ikare Minako. I have only just arrived here about a week ago. Your friend is mistaken. I am not at all that mysterious. I just do not like to open up that much to other people." He explained. The way he looked at me, it was like he was trying to burn a hole through my head.
"Also, I have a piece of advice for you." He added. His hand drew back and he whispered into my ear."You are closer to Death's Door than you think. Watch out for them." He muttered. Then he stepped back and left. I stood there, a little stunned. How did he know my conversation with Aoi and I? What did he mean by them? Does he know about Hanako-kun and the other Seven Mysteries?
My thoughts were interrupted by Kou-kun.
"Hey, Yashiro-Senpai! I heard you have been getting better!" He shouted, from across the hallway. Everyone was looking at him like he was a maniac.
"Come to the Lunch Room while we still have time!"I nodded and he went back into the Lunch Room and I covered my face in my hands, embarrassed as I brisk walked to the Lunch Room. I sat near Kou and we had some small talk. All that while, as I munched on my sandwich, I was pondering on what Minako-Senpai was talking about.
What could it mean?
