Shane was a lovely boy. He was caring, friendly to all, very sweet, and so many other positive traits. He truly was the perfect boy. His friends would say he was a great guy. His mom would say he was a kind gentleman. His girlfriend would say he was a pure, honest soul who always did the right thing.
Him and his girlfriend were having a day at the beach. It was beautiful. They were both volleyball players and were playing volleyball. Their volleyball flew into the water and Shane went to get it. All of a sudden, a strong wave came in. His girlfriend went to go save him, but he told her to stay put and that he'd be back as soon as the wave passed.
That was the last anyone ever saw of him..
They were freshmen then. Two years later, his girlfriend is sitting on her bed, working on some homework, when her phone starts dinging like crazy. She picks it up and instantly drops it after reading the notifications.

"Babe, I'm across the ocean. Coming to you soon xoxo
Babe?
Okay, no WiFi, no biggie. I'll see you soon.
So, you can't see my texts. Just great.
Well, until we meet again, I'll just text you. I mean, I have to get WiFi at some point, right?"

"I wish you were here. It's so boring. All I've seen are bugs. Bugs, bugs, bugs. They aren't very good at conversations. I talk to them, they buzz back.
However, I told them about you and they seemed pretty intrigued. One of them actually turned to look at me. I told him you were my girlfriend, not his. He wasn't very happy. You're very desirable, babe.
I wonder what you're doing right now. Probably worrying about me. You know I don't like it when people have me on their mind. I wish I was right there to tell you to stop worrying. You shouldn't waste your time on me. You'd see me next to you and smile, making all the boys swoon. That's the effect you have on them. That's the effect you have on me, especially.
But anyways, back to me, considering you probably want to know what's happening. So I've been trying to get past the water, but there's no land on the other side as far as the eye can see. It's all water. So, I'm just going to head deeper into the woods I suppose. I need to get materials some way, don't I? I mean, I wasn't a boy scout in the fifth grade for nothing, right?"

Shane sent his last message, turned his battery saver on his phone, and set off into the woods. He looked around and grabbed some twigs and some berries that he knew weren't poisonous (thank you science). He headed back to the beach and set up "camp."
He looked around. He figured if he was going to set off, he would set off in the morning and sleep for now to gain some energy. He sent his final text as he fell asleep, staring up at the stars.

(A/N: Hey, new story, yay. Tell me what you think. Sorry this is so short, I just wanted to get one chapter out explaining the background of the story before I went too in depth. Also, I'm trying this thing where I name the chapters now (I know, this chapter's title is super creative) so that's always fun. Anyways, until we meet again, I love you <3)
