"They're here," Jade breathed a sigh of relief to her friends, as the guards and their leaders looked on in horrified confusion.
Sir Lawrence slammed his hands down on the table, and it was like the person he hid behind fake smiles and forced politeness was finally being freed. Jade felt fear arise in her stomach.
"I don't know what the hell you've all done, but do you realise what you've jeopardised?" He asked as guards ran to investigate, yelling at each other through their headsets. "The Queen and I would have finally found peace with one another. The world would have been as it should."
The gang all shuffled in their seats, wondering what to do, wondering what was going on outside, wondering when they would be freed by their mysterious saviours.
"Then stop edging around it and tell us what this Mixed School is really about," Lily demanded.
The ground shook again, and in the distance loud, bellowing voices could be heard, but they all remained sat in their face-off.
"I assume you saw this in the documents you stole, but I wanted to try and make an ultimate race, a select few people who were not Being nor Wild One, but both. They could work for me, whilst still having their own freedom of course, and grow into wonderful creatures," Queen Wild said in a psychotically proud tone. "Sir Lawrence agreed that I could use some of his Beings for this, if in turn I left him alone forever after the Mixed School closed, and the world stayed divided, and he got given a larger share of land, so there would be more room for Beings in his sector, and less for Wild Ones in mine. If it ever came out, I also agreed to take the full blame and responsibility."
Jade and her friends just sat with their eyes wide and mouths dropped almost comically open in shock. The fact that the Head Being would allow this monstrous plan to happen just for the sake of his own ego was sickening. And the term 'ultimate race' was also hard to hear. It was clear that, as they expected all along, their leaders were insane, sociopathic and pure evil.
"A mix of Wild Ones and Beings doesn't make sense. I mean, a Wild One is just a Being with powers," Martha spoke up.
"No, it is not. We are trying to manufacture those powers. The reason that we unfortunately have lost lives along the way is because I've been testing some Wild Ones and Beings to their limit, trying to find the best of the best so I can copy the genes of a Wild One and place it into a Being, or take the traits of a Being and place that into a Wild One," she explained. "Sadly, I still haven't found the ideal candidates."
"Why would you place the traits of a Being into a Wild One?" Jack asked in a quiet voice.
"Because, the differences between Wild Ones and Beings go further than that one has supernatural Gifts and one does not. You've grown up in different worlds. What I want is a species that has a concoction of all that makes a Being and all that makes a Wild One, rolled into one body," she said.
Loud footsteps suddenly thundered in downstairs, and the gang all got up from their seats to brace themselves and hopefully get out of there.
"Now, you've ruined it," Queen Tabitha snarled. "Jade, you're coming with me."
She and Sir Lawrence charged towards her, and James jumped in their way, pushing the Head Being to the ground with a thud.
The Queen edged around him, and kept on walking with a petrifying determination in her eyes.
"HELP! WE'RE IN HERE, HELP US!" Hunter shouted as loudly as he could, and thankfully, it sounded as though the footsteps were getting louder.
Tabitha turned to him and simply pointed a long finger at him, and he started screeching and falling to the ground, desperately clutching at his stomach. She grabbed Jade with a tight grip and started dragging her towards a door at the back of the room.
