Miles' Point of View

"I'm so happy for you tiny. You deserve this happiness, after Tyler's mysterious death you've grown stronger with Max and I'm just thankful that my best friend is finally happy again." Melanie held my hand as we walked hand-in-hand away from the parked car. I gently squeezed her hand as I thought about Max. Just thinking about him made me happy, I know he feels the same way.

"Thanks, Mel. I do feel happier and I think Max does too. It was just super awkward when Tyler's mother came over to ask if I was ok?" We both paused before we started dying of laughter. I know it's probably super weird to think about your ex-boyfriend dying but in my case, he sort of deserved it. Not sort of, he deserved it.

Zack and Alana walked ahead of us. We were spending our lunchtime with one another because it's been a while since I hung out with someone else besides my horny but caring boyfriend. The weather was getting cooler as the sun pokes into the sky, the midday sunrise was beautiful in Indianapolis. "Yeah, I still can't believe the fucker is gone. Time is just passing us. I mean look at your hair, plus your birthday is in a couple of months! I feel old."

"I know, can't believe I'm turning 24. Anyways, how about you and Zack?" Zack held the door for everyone as we entered the little bistro near Max's building. I played with the ring on my pinky and immediately thought of my boyfriend for the hundredth time of the day and the day just started by the way.

"I couldn't be happier with anyone else, Miles. He's my everything, I love him." I wore a shit-eating grin as my best friend talked about her relationship with my other best friend. Alana was rolling her eyes since she thought because she was single, we shouldn't be allowed to talk about any types of 'lovey-dovey relationships' in front of her.

"Ugh, I can't wait to eat, I swear I've been starving all day!" We agreed with our starving friend in group laughter.

It was so good to be back with my friends. Just talking, laughing, and eating whatever it was Alana and Zack ordered off the menu. Of course, they expected me to pay since Alana's big mouth exposed me to having Max's black credit card, and sadly I gave in to my friend's assumptions. There weren't many people in the restaurant which was kind of weird especially since it's lunchtime and usually any other place would be buzzing with people. That was until 20 minutes into our game of truth or dare; restaurant edition, a group of men in black and whits suits came into the restaurant and sat down at the both ahead of us.

"Are you guys almost done?" I gave up on the game when Mel had dared me to stand up on the table and do a rendition of Lizzo's song 'Juice'. They just chuckled at my poor attempt to get these idiots out.

"We still have like 20 minutes of lunch left. Now go! It's your turn! Hop that ass on the table!" Alana started a chant as Zack then Mel joined in on her foolishness.

"It's rush hour, plus we have to drop off these two before going back. Let's go, dummies." I started to shove Mel out of the booth since she was sat on the edge of the seat until I recognized one of the men in the familiar black and white suits.

"I'd love to talk to this young man here. Alone," He wore shades, to hide his face. His voice was deep. From what I could see, he reminded me of Matveï, Max's father.

"Miles, you know who this is?" Melanie started.

"Okay, and you are?" Alana persisted him.

"Man, I think you should go, you got the wrong person." Zack finished.

They stood up for me when I didn't respond immediately. I just might attract people who are overly protective of me. The man rests his hand on the table, I could see the small snake tattoo along with his pinky finger, where Max or his father would have their ring on. Instant panic arose in my body when I realized who it was. Looking up from his finger, the smirk he had on his face reminded me of the one family that could all have the same synchronized sadistic smirk.
