We stepped into the ballroom, Bruce next to me, my arm linked to his; I could see that the dinner had been served. Mostly everyone was seated around the round tables, their tables overflowing with multiple coursed meals, their glasses of champagne overflowing. I craned my neck, taking a quick look of the ballroom once, before fixing my gaze on Bruce.

"I wanted to apologize to you, Mr. Wayne. For my crude remarks, earlier."

Bruce's sharp features softened, his shoulders relaxing slightly as I watched his lips break into a little smile.

"Well, it is good to be told the truth to. I pay tens of thousands to people to just lie to my face, I realize that now." He broke out into a grin, making me let my lips curve into a grin as well. "I ask them, how's the tailoring coming? Mr. Wayne, it's wonderful. How do you like the idea of throwing a banquet? Oh it's wonderful. They get paid to agree with everything I have to say."

"I'm sorry to hear that, Mr. Wayne." I smiled, only a little bit of the smile visible through the corner of the mask, most of it hidden.

"It's refreshing, Miss Calloway. Finally hearing someone criticize something I have done." Bruce said, making me look down sheepishly at my feet.

I parted my lips slightly and would have said a few more words but my words were cut off by Selina Kyle, making my heart do a little leap of happiness. Times had changed, our lives had changed, but Selina had been a good friend, always.

"There you are, Bruce. Aren't you going to - " She flicked a glance towards me, her eyes almost boring into me; making me sense a bit of jealousy in them. "- to your new friend?"

I saw Bruce stiffen slightly, his hand reaching up to his hair, running his fingers through his locks. "Selina, this is Miss Calloway. She is a guest." I immediately nodded my head, giving her a faint smile, whatever was visible through my mask.

"I'm sorry, I should have introduced myself. I'm Hilary Calloway." I threw out my hand towards Selina, masking my voice a little, trying to make it a little more high pitched.

"Miss Hilary, welcome. I can't really see your, uh, face." She replied, taking my hand and briefly shaking it before letting it drop.

"Yes well, it's a masquerade party. I'd like to stick to the theme." I shrugged, almost nonchalantly.

"Oh, suit yourself. I'm going to borrow Bruce now. You have fun." She said, playwinking at me and slinking her arm through Bruce's, who looked at her and then back towards me, almost with an apologetic smile.

"I'll, uh, see you around, Miss Calloway." I heard Bruce say before he disappeared into the crowd, mingling with people.

Huffing slightly, I decided to go back and check in the bathroom; maybe hide the body before someone else found it and look for Jeremiah. Just then, a sound of a gunshot, or rather, a loud booming sound rang into my eardrums, almost like a deafening sound, the left side ballroom door that was shut flew into the air due to the impact. Dust and rubble erupted into the air, a few of the people breaking into a coughing fit.
