It had been a week since the Sorting Ceremony, and many of the new students still found it hard to get to their classrooms; with the similar corridors and the one hundred and forty-two staircases, it was normal for the first-years to get lost. Most of the ghosts in Hogwarts weren't of much help (except for Nearly Headless Nick, who helped the young Gryffindors around Hogwarts), specially Peeves the Poltergeist. Charlie remembered her first year and how Peeves would pass through doors right at the moment she would open them, frightening her.
Throughout the second week, Charlie would spend most of her time with Fred and George in the Gryffindor Common Room; since she was their best friend, it wasn't all that weird to find her there, studying with the twins. She had also attempted to talk to the Hermione girl, but it seems as if her house's reputation had only pushed her further away. Charlie thought they'd be good friends and it would certainly be nice having another female friend; she didn't have any girl-friends in Slytherin asides Spencer.
Her first week was spent in the Forbidden Forest, close to the Shrieking Shack, for... unavoidable reasons. On the evening of their first day of school, Charlie was accompanied by McGonagall to the Forbidden Forest, where she transformed into a werewolf, and where she would stay for a few days. For some reason, however, it took her less than a week to change back to normal!
It was September 6th when the Slytherin student found a lost pair of first-year Gryffindors, both looking lost and confused. She quickly recognized Ron's ginger hair in the crowd and approached him, placing a friendly hand on his shoulder.
"Good morning, Ronald! Are you two lost?" inquired Charlie.
"Charlie! Thank Merlin you're here," Ron sighed in relief and offered her a smile. "Harry and I can't find the way to our Potions class, and we know it's professor Snape's class... we don't want to be late."
"I got some spare time, I'll show you the way to the dungeons!" The Slytherin adjusted her bag over her shoulder and accompanied the two boys to their classroom.
They turned on a few corridors and went down a few sets of stairs, and Harry could've sworn they were being followed, but every time he looked behind them he would see nothing. Right before the three entered the dungeons, Harry and Ron squealed in fright at the sight of Peeves. The Poltergeist had shown out of nowhere and had let out a loud shriek, scaring the boys.
It seemed as if he wouldn't be leaving so soon. Charlie clicked her tongue and looked towards the Poltergeist, crossing her arms.
"Peeves, don't make me call the Bloody Banner."
"Lupus, you're no fun!" Peeves giggled like a little girl and evaporated in thin air.
"Okay, boys, your classroom is right over there," Charlie pointed towards a heavy-looking door. "Try not to do anything silly, okay? Professor Snape will not tolerate it."
"We'll be sure to behave very well," Harry smiled at the girl and, together with Ron, the boys made their way inside the classroom. As the girl turned around, she bumped against another first-year student with platinum hair. Draco Malfoy.
The young boy had a smirk on his lips and his arms were crossed, and behind him stood his two goons: Crabbe and Goyle. This side of Draco was still a mystery to the Slytherin girl, she didn't recall her friend being so rude towards others, Potter specifically.
"Friends with Potter now, are we?"
"Good morning to you too, Draco! Ready for your first Potions class?" inquired Charlie with a small smile.
"I'm not too worried, it seems Professor Snape never takes points from Slytherin, so I should be fine," Draco laughed as he walked past Charlie, sending her a genuine smile. "It was good seeing you! Have a good morning."
