Nemuie was packing her bag. She had got very little sleep last night. Being invited to the Empresses Dinner? She must have thought she was someone else. Maybe her old teacher? But he was long gone.
She walked out of the door and locked it. Let's hope no one breaks in again.
She walked off into the distance. The busy talking and general city-noises began to fill the air. The sun was just now starting to rise yet the market place was already packed. Lanterns hung from building to building, people were talking and enjoying the morning, while a few carriages passed by.
"Nemuie!" She recognized that familiar voice and turned around with a smile. The baker! Nemuie rushes over to his market. "I just put a fresh batch of pumpkin bread in the oven, care to stay?" Nemuie laughed "like I would pass up pumpkin bread." The baker smiled. "Where you off to this morning, you never wake up before sunrise" He was dusting the flour from his apron. "Actually...I'm going to the palace." The baker looked up.
"How am I not surprised, you are the best magician in the entire city!" Nemuie could feel her face burn at the compliment. "Hey! The other magicians pretty good too!" Nemuie looked around for their stall, they didn't get as much business as she did, but their shop was easier to get to.
"And you aren't here just for idle conversation," the baker said while dropping a loaf of pumpkin bread. Nemuie almost drooled at the sight. It smelled amazing as always. "And don't worry about paying either!" Nemuie didn't have time to express her gratitude, because a very familiar and unusual aura filled the market place. There is no way.......
Nemuie spun around, that aura is a lot like.... "Takila.....?" The baker spoke behind her "I haven't heard that name in a while........" Nemuie looked back at him, "Wonder what he is up to these days" he looked off into the distance. The baker suddenly turned back, "But that doesn't matter, you have a palace to get too!" Nemuie smiled, the mood changing. "And make sure you don't get any bread crumbs one your robes!" The baker smiled, and Nemuie walked away.
Nemuie walked along a sidewalk, more people were starting to come out, the sun was high in the sky by now. She has just finished her last bite of pumpkin bread and was adjusting her outfit. She had on a clock that was bunched up at her neck and shoulders but flowed freely down. A simple white tee-shirt and a belt with a few herbs and a pouch with her tarot card deck inside.
She heard the sound of a crow and it startled her, she was already on edge. Why is Takila's aura here? Are they back? She was lost in thought, completely ignoring her surroundings. Until she bumped into a sturdy yet cushioned surface.
Nemuie staggered back, saving herself from falling down completely. Her first reaction was to cruse, but she kept her mouth shut. The person turned around, their face was a combination of frustration and horror. Why are they scared? "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" Nemuie was taken aback. "Errr it's fine I guess?" She got a better look at them, their hair was in a messy bun, which is only held together with a worn cloth.
They turned around, "I'm sorry but I need to get to the palace!" Nemuie was still processing what had happened and didn't respond in a reasonable time. When she snapped out of her daze. The person was already out of sight. Nemuie took off in the direction they left in, being careful not to bump into anyone else.
