When The World Burns

Tom Riddle

Two weeks passed quickly and the preparations for Tom were finished. They had even gotten Azrael to become both Tom's and their guardian so no one could force Tom or them into an orphanage. Today was the day they would pick Tom up. Kai was practically bouncing off the walls with anticipation. She would be accommodating Azrael and Bingley to pick up Tom, while Hades and the other elves put some of the last touches on the alley. Instead of moving businesses into the alley the created and stocked all of them together. Now all they really needed was workers and customers. A timer went off and Kai shot across the room to where Bingley and Azrael now stood. "IT'S TIME!!!" Hades laughed and hugged his sister. "Good luck Kai and try not to let your gryffindor side cause a scene." "HEY!" "I'm just saying your way too excited." "I know. I'll try and tone it down." Kai promised before Bingley apperated them to King's Cross.

Kai's POV

When we got there I was almost bouncing out of my skin. Hades kept sending waves of calming emotions through our link to help me calm down. By the time the train finally arrived I was almost asleep standing up. I was the first one to see Tom arrive. He stood off to the side of the train with Abraxas Malfoy, Orion Black, and many other recognizable slytherins. I quickly made my way to where he stood. "Tom Riddle?" They all turned to me with calculating expressions. Well if that's not off putting then I don't know what is. "Yes?" Tom drawled in a sophisticated voice. "I am Kyra Slytherin-Gryffindor." I said nodding in respect. All the slytherins eyes widened comically. "And what can I do for you Miss Slytherin-Gryffindor?" I smiled nightly at Tom.  "You may call me Kai. I am actually here to pick you up." Tom frowned. "Pick me up?" "Of course, it is not just me. I noticed get off the train so I took the opportunity to introduce myself rather than watch Azrael search for you. Though that might have been entertaining as well. We really should get going if we want to beat the rush. Do you have all your things?" Tom looked at me for a long moment before motioning to a truck beside him. "This is everything I believe." I nodded and snapped for Bingley. He appeared seconds later with Azrael at his side. "Will you have that trunk sent to Tom's room at Primrose, please." Bingley bowed before snapping his finger. The trunk disappeared. I turned back to Tom who was staring at us with confusion. "Shall we?" I asked, smiling. Tom nodded and said a quick goodbye to his friends before following us to the apparition point.

Tom's POV

I followed the strange little girl, the quiet man, and their elf to the apparition point where I was immediately apperated in front of a cottage about a stone's throw from a beautiful lake and completely surrounded by forest. I was led inside to a large sitting room where a boy appeared to be waiting. "I'm glad you made it. I was worried something happened." "Haaadddeeessss!!!" The girl whined. "I'm kidding, Kai, I knew you would get him here safe." The boy said softly before approaching me. "Hello Tom, my name is Hadrian Slytherin-Gryffindor. Please call me Hades." I nodded. "Are either of you going to tell why I am here?" I asked looking between Kai and Hades. "Well, to begin my name is Azrael Peverell. These are the twins Hades and Kai. They lost their parents at a young age. I took them in after they ran away from an orphanage. Somehow they found out about another magical child living in an orphanage, you, and convinced me to become your magical guardian. This cottage, Primrose Cottage, will be your home from now on. We were not sure how you would feel about living with us so we set it up for you in hopes you would expect it. I will be by to check on you three times each month and these two have chores to do here so you will see them often. You see we did not wish to force you into a family setting nor did we wish for you to be completely secluded. We have selected two of our house elves to live here. One, Darcy, will maintain the property and the other, Bingley, will serve you personally. We know this is highly unusual but we will remain through dinner if you have any questions. You of course are welcome to Scarslin Manor anytime. You are keyed into the wards so do not worry. After dinner Bingley will help you get settled. The twins will be here tomorrow morning for breakfast, but after dinner we must return to the manor." Azrael stated in a very formal way. I was at a loss for words. People I don't know took me in and gave me my own house. "Th….thank you. I owe you three so much." "No. You owe us nothing." I looked over to see Kai had a determined expression on her face. "Dinner is ready." An elf wearing black robes spoke softly. "Thank you, Darcy. We will be there shortly." Hades said before standing and gesturing for us to follow him out of the room. The dinner was delicious. Even better than the food served at Hogwarts. After the three of them send goodnight and flooed to Scarslin Manor. The house elf Bingley showed me around the cottage and promised to show me the grounds tomorrow. Today was amazing. And that Hades boy was really cute. I smiled before drifting off to sleep in my new bed.
