Class finally starts. The teacher steps up to the front of the classroom. He a literal speaker box for a head. Odd. "I would like your attention, please." Everyone immediately turned their heads towards him and went dead silent. Also odd, guess that's why it's a top-tier school. "Welcome to the first day of school. Of course, there's no need to introduce myself. I'm sure you all know me by now." Which, I didn't. I don't even know his name. I would raise my hand but I'm honestly way too anxious to raise my hand in front of a bunch of other students I barely know. I'll get to know him later. For now, I just focus on class. I always focus, even when my friends try to get me distracted by petty things, but.. this time I didn't have to worry about that. Everyone else seemed quiet or focused on someone else besides me. It was kinda disturbing in a way, seeing as how in my old school, it wasn't like that. Everyone tended to just kinda speak out loud but, no. Not here.
Maybe an hour of class passed, when the bell finally rings. Jesus, saying it felt like an eternity is an understatement. "Hey, Book!" A familiar voice called out. Taco, of course. "C'mon, me and Lolli are gonna go do some other things for the next 15 minutes. Wanna come?" She said, grabbing her bag and looking towards me. "Mm.." I ponder for a moment. I didn't know if I should go. I just met Taco, we barely know each other. But at the same time, this would be a good time to get to know her... This could be a good time to get to know other people as well though so... I shook my head. " I'll pass, sorry Taco." Taco just shrugged and left with Lollipop, their hands held together. I decided to look around the classroom. It was boxy and gray. So dull, with bookshelves, and tables all over the place. It was honestly extremely boring. Then I noticed a blue, familiar figure sitting in one of the seats. I didn't think any of the other students would be here but.. it was the girl I saw in the hallway earlier. Maybe I should try to talk to her? She seemed lonely, and it was a good time to speak to someone new, anyways. I walked up to her. She seemed like she was avoiding eye contact. Or.. wait, was she? Her eyes are covered by her hair, so I can't tell? Okay, okay, focus. "Um.. hello." I said, super nervously. I'm not a good conversation starter. She didn't respond. Oh God. "H-how are you? My name is Book. W-what's your name?" Too fast? Probably. I need to calm down. But she still didn't respond. Um.. "H-hello..?" I wave a hand in her face. Rude. Finally, she perks up. "O-oh! Oh, I'm sorry." She said, looking to the side. "Uhm, no, I'm sorry. That was- my fault." I sighed. " No, y-you're fine." She said, with a soft, cold voice. There was a moment of silence between us, suddenly she spoke up again. "I-I'm Ice Cube." She said quietly. "Y-you said you were Book, yeah?" I nodded. "Nice to meet you, I guess." She held her arm, seemingly very timid and never talked. "Nice to meet you too! Uhm... What're you doing sitting here all by yourself in here?" I asked. "I had nothing better to do. My other friend just left for a little while. I insisted on it... She's kind of a lot to handle, haha... I bet you've seen her before." Hm. Wonder how she knew. "Yep, I don't know her name though!" Ice Cube just looked up at me.
"Her name's, Bracelety. She's obsessed with me for a reason I haven't figured out yet. She follows me pretty much everywhere. She's sweet when you get to know her but she's also..." Suddenly, a quick sound of the door creaking left us silent. It was... Bracelety. She was running extremely quickly towards Ice Cube, screaming and shouting. I'm pretty sure everyone could hear her, and me and Icy were obviously uncomfortable. "Um, hi Bracey.." Bracelety, of course, screams back. "ICY!! HI!! WHO'S YOUR FRIEND?!" She asked, brash, and loudly. "Um.. I'm Book-" She turns back to Ice Cube. "ICY! I LIKE YOUR NEW FRIEND! SHE'S SUPER COOL!" I laugh nervously. This was honestly abrupt and uncomfortable... I wasn't sure if I was even comfy anymore, so... "I'm... gonna go get a drink." I said, getting up from my seat. I walk off and left out the door. "Bye, Book..." Ice Cube said, before I shut the door. I sigh in relief. Icy was nice and all, but Bracelety really was an awful lot to handle. I could still hear her screaming from outside the door, too. Oh well, no need to worry about that, now.
