It was FULL of dolls. All kinds of dolls. Porcelain, plastic, black, white, Chinese, and quite a few clown dolls greeted me. With one big thing in common. They were all creepy as fuck. And suddenly I was laughing, uncontrollable laughter to be precise. All three of the people with me turned to look at me like I was crazy but that only made me laugh more. I couldn't stop. Until
I realized something horrible. Something that made me stop in my tracks and my heart start pumping so hard I could feel my body shaking. The dolls turned to look at me too. One by one in neat little rows their heads began to turn and their cold, lifeless little eyes stared at me. The people must've noticed the look on my face because they turned to look too and they all gasped. Audibly. Before I could think to react to the dolls Daniel had my arm and had me out of the room. I didn't know who had grabbed me so I grabbed the woman in front of me and we were all roughly yanked out of the room.
"Jake-"
She began, and he turned to look at her, but she was rudely cut off my the door slamming shut. Me and Daniel looked at each other, mouths agape, then we all started trying to get the door open anyway we could. I heard maniacal laughter on the other side and the woman was screaming Jakes name over and over. Then it just stopped. The woman began banging on the door harder, in desperation. One loud scream came from the man and then a sickening crunch. And then silence. We all slowly back away from the door, save the woman who slowly sank to her knees. She didn't see what Daniel and I did. There was blood running out from under the door. I grabbed her hand and Daniel pulled her up while she was focused on me so she couldn't see. But she knew. Tears streamed down her face but she didn't say a word. Merely followed us like some kind of zombie. Daniel went to go for the next door when I grabbed his hand.
"Are you crazy?!?"
He motioned to the door where the banging now sounded like it was coming from multiples. Fuck.
"We can't stop, the door won't hold forever. And it sounds like the cannibals are teaming up."
I set my jaw. He was right.
"We can't just go barging into any old door, look what literally just happened."
We both turned to look at the woman, who had her face in her hands. Then he nodded at me.
"What do you suggest?"
I thought for a moment and then took a deep breath.
"We should listen at the doors, maybe then we will get an idea of what's behind them. But to save time we should each take a door."
Daniel looked at the woman.
"I don't know your name."
She quietly sobbed out the name.
"Julia,"
He set his mouth in a thin line and walked over to her, placing one hand on each of her shoulders.
"It's nice to meet you Julia. I know you just went through the most horrible experience of your life, your friend-"
She cut him off.
"My brother,"
He looked pained.
"I'm sorry. But if you want to survive we have to try this."
She nodded her head solemnly. We walked together over to the doors, each taking the one we lined up with. Julia took the one on the wall, i the one in the middle, and Daniel the one on the right next to the doll room. We each put our ears against them. And I heard... scraping. Like metal scraping together, it made my skin crawl. We all convened just back from my door to tell each other what we heard, I went first. I told them what I heard and how it sent shivers down my spine. Daniel went next.
"I heard nothing. It was completely silent."
I sighed and turned to Julia. She stood stock still.
"I heard someone in there, they were trying to yell but it sounded like their mouth was duct taped or something."
Me and Daniel looked at each other and Julia paled.
"Please don-"
I cut her off.
"I'm so sorry Julia, but we have to try, it seems like the safest bet."
Me and Daniel walked to the door together and shared a look of fear as he opened the door. And there in the middle of the room chained to a chair with a ball gag in his mouth was a man soaked in blood. His head drooped and he whimpered quietly. He obviously hadn't noticed we'd come in. I looked all around but there was nothing else in the room. Just concrete walls, concrete floors, a drain under him, and then him.
Daniel cleared his throat to get the mans attention, and the man suddenly raised his tear streaked face to look desperately at us.
It was Noah.
I turned to look at Daniel, but he was gone. And for the second time that day I watched a door slam closed. Except this time. Me and Julia were the ones inside of it.
