Alex's POV

I heard them talk, I just can't reply. I want to, though. I want them to know I'm sorry... that I'll be home as soon as I can. But it's been months and they're giving up.
"Lex, one day you'll wake up, right?" Jack was talking to me. I heard him as clear as day. I wanted to reply so bad. "I hope you do... I miss you a lot... it's August now... you missed my birthday." His hand was holding mine, and I desperately wanted to hold his back. I tried and tried before but nothing ever happens. "Please just wake up... or show me that you'll wake up soon."
Just move your hand, Alex. It's not that hard. Twitch a finger or squeeze a little. Just move your hand.
"Alex?" I did it. "Your hand moved... Does that mean you'll wake up soon?" He continued to talk, and I continued to try to move my hand, succeeding a few times And listening to him talk to me about random things.

"Has he done anything yet?" The doctor asked sadly. I shrugged, wanting to keep it until I told his mom. "...if he doesn't start showing signs soon, we have to take off his life support."
"What?" I looked up in shock. "You can't do that."
"We have to. Other patients come in every day. They need the machines, and Alex has been here long enough. If he's gonna come back, we can only find out by turning off that-" he was interrupted by movement. Alex's arm moved and he rubbed his eyes before making a noise as if he'd just woke to up on a morning after getting barely any sleep.
"...Alex?" I watched him carefully before his hand went back to his side and his eyes slowly opened to reveal his Carmel colored eyes. "Oh my god..."
"Jack..." he whispered.
"Alex, you're awake." I smiled and hugged him. He hugged back lightly.
"Jack, my head hurts." He whispered hoarsly.
"You're alive."I mumbled
"I'm so sorry." He said. I pulled back and looked at him.
"Its all okay now. You're alive and okay and you're never leaving me again..." I told him and kissed his forehead.
"wait... what about mom?" He asked. I nodded and grabbed my phone before sitting down and grabbing my phone. I called and waited for an answer.
"Hello." She answered in the same depressed tone as always.
"You need to get here now." I told her.
"What? What happened?" She asked.
"You'll find out when you get here." I told her and hung up.
"Jacky, help me sit up please." He said. The doctor walked over and helped him sit up comfortably.
"There you go." I smiled.
"Let me get the off of you." The doctor said and began to unhook a few unneeded machines. He got Alex a drink of water before leaving the room. A few moments later, the door opened and Alex's mom walked in.
"Oh my god." She gasped and walked over. He gave her a small smile before she sat next to him and pulled him into a tight hug. "You're never leaving my sight again."
"Okay." He nodded.
"Alex..." someone said. We all looked over to the door and saw a man standing there.
"...Dad." Alex mumbled. The man walked over and Alex hugged him.
"Don't you ever scare me like that again." He mumbled.
