Eddie sat backstage at his boyfriend and bestfriends bands concert. He watched and swayed to the beat before slowly the chords to his favorite song started to play.
"Can I say something before we sing this next song?" Richie asked into the microphone, the chords still playing.
"This song wasn't on the set list at all, but I squeezed it in once we got to Hawkins for a reason." He smiled to himself. "As you know this song is from our first ever album, our first ever song.
I wrote lover when I was in eighth grade about a boy I liked." The crowd cheered softly and the chords continued as Beverly whispered to Ben who whispered to bill who whispered to Stan and Stan started to the all towards Eddie and mike off stage to where they stood.
"He had brown hair and hazel eyes and freckles and this stupid inhaler that you'd constantly hear him wheeze into. God I was so in love with him" Richie laughed and so did the crowd. "But I decided I'd cover the boy topic later and then last month I was like 'HOLY SHIT IM GAY'" another laugh and Stan stood with us.
"Anyways, the boys name was so stupid too, Edward kaspbrak." And then the crowd lost its shit. Stan took that as his his cue to start dragging Eddie to richie, Eddie planted his feet and struggled. Mike was of no help to him, he just about picked Eddie up and followed Stan out on stage infront of thousands of people who he couldn't see behind the wall of lights shining down on him. Mike set him down and disappeared.
Eddie swallowed and looked at richie who smiled and turned to face him.
"So this is lover, written and dedicated to my bestfriend of ten years. I have a question for you spaghetti-"
"Don't call me that" eddies voice boomed like Richies was.
"Will you be my boyfriend officially and do those stupid cute gay things couples do with me?" Richie leaned the microphone more towards his own body then eddies.
'Say yes say yes say yes say yes' was heard like a whisper around the venue.
"Kiss me trashmouth." Eddie smiled and stood on his toes to kiss the boy. The song started and they pulled away. Richie hugging Eddie into his side and this time HIM singing the song and not Beverly.
Eddie sang under his breath and Richie nudged. The microphone toward him. Eddie shook his head but Richie persisted.
And the rest of the song they sang together.

Eddie went back with mike after that song and they went to eddies house to get ready to leave in the morning.
