***Harley's P.O.V

"Harley! Get your useless self down here now!" I roll my eyes as I hear my mothers voice yell up at me from downstairs. I shut off my phone and roll out of bed.

"I'm comin', I'm comin'. Don't get your panties in a twist." I mutter under my breath. I get down the stairs and see her standing there looking livid, ever present beer in hand. "What?"

"Don't you get an attitude with me, you little brat. Now get in there and get dinner started." She hits me over the head as I walk by her so hard that I fall. I wince and get back up before going into the kitchen to start dinner. Forty-five minutes later, dinner was on the table. I go into the living room to tell she who birthed me and her husband that it's ready only to see that they were both out cold. I roll my eyes then a grin comes to my face.

I quickly and quietly race up the stairs and to grab my bow. I knew they would be out for several hours. I grab everything I need and head out. I blow through the door, not bothering to check if it shut all the way, and walk into the forest.

A few hours later, I come back to see my front door wide open. I feel my face drain of its color, thinking that my mother and step father had woken up and were ready to beat me until I blacked out. I take a few steps forward and then I hear their screams.

I run forward into the house and into the living room. I gasp when I see our neighbors, Susan and Blake, tearing into my mother and step father. Blood was everywhere and their guts were strung out on the carpet. Susan and Blake looked weird. Their eyes yellow and glazed over, huge chunks taken out of them and a unhealthy look to their skin. I scream and run up the stairs and to my room, slamming the door behind me. I grab the phone and dial nine one one. No one answers. I hear more screams coming from outside and a huge crash. I get up and look out the window.

People that I had known my whole life were being torn apart in the streets by other people I had know my whole life. The gore and carnage would have made me puke if it wasn't for all those years of skinning and gutting animals. I look down and see Susan, Blake, my mother and my step father all walking out the front door, covered in blood. My mind goes blank. I had just watches Susan and Blake kill them. Half of the guts were dumped onto the living room floor!

I shake my head and rush downstairs, slamming the door behind them. I hear banging on the door and look through the peep hole. Mom was looking back at me.

***Carter's P.O.V

Carl laughs and screams as I chase him around the house with a pillow in my hands, swinging at him every chance I get. I drop the pillow and lunge forward, tackling him onto the couch. I hold him down and start tickling him. He laughs and screams out.

"You gonna take it back, you little punk?" I grin as he begs for me to stop.

"Never!" I lay into him, tickling he sides furiously. He wiggles underneath me, trying to get away as he laughs.

I hear a small laugh come from mom and my smile widens. She hadn't even smiled since dad had been shot. Carl had been been withdrawn and slightly depressed since he found out. i don't think the weight of what had happened really hit me yet. I had been spending all my time trying to keep mom and Carl from thinking about that I hadn't had any time for me to really think about it.

   "Take it back!"

"Okay, okay! I'm sorry! Just stop! Please!" I laugh and roll off the couch onto the floor and try to catch my breath. I look over and see mom with a genuine smile on her face and a small smile plays on my own lips. It was good to see them happy again. Shane had been a big help, but he wasn't dad. I sigh and get up. Mom steps further into the room.
