"Kate, come on. We're going to be late to school!" I yell knocking on her door. "One minute!" she says. I sigh with frustration. She's probably perfecting herself, she does that. "Done!" she says with delight and walks out of her room. She's wearing white pants and a bright pink shirt. Her eyeliner is close to perfection, her hair is curled. Me? I'm wearing black tights and a gray sweatshirt and my hair is in a messy bun, I'm wearing a full coat of makeup but that's just about as fancy as it gets. She grabs her bag. "Okay, let's go!" she says enthusiastically. She's the most happy person I know. We walk to school as she tells me about her brother or something. I don't really listen, but she doesn't care. She just likes to talk. We finally make it to the high school. We walk in and are swarmed by people. All different types. We walk to our lockers which are surprisingly quite close to each other. We grab our books for my first few periods, and rush to find Ian. He's standing at his locker, trying to get the jocks to leave him alone. As Kate stands back and watches I walk up to them. I cuss them out until they leave, glaring at me. I look at Ian. He looks greatful, yet depressed. "Thanks Ken" he mumbles. "No problem" I say and look up at him. He's tall with blonde hair and green eyes, but he's scrawny and wears thick glasses. So he gets picked on. Kate walks up to us. "Sorry about them" she apologizes to Ian. He shrugs. "Its been going on for years, why would it stop now?" he asks madly and slams his locker door shut. He walks past us, and starts fast walking to homeroom, obviously trying to be ahead of us. "Hey!" I call at him and he doesn't turn around. I jog to meet him. "Hey. What's the matter?" I ask. "Nothing..." he lies. "Oh really?" I ask sarcastically. He just nods. I step in front of him. "What's wrong? You can tell me" I say sincerely. "I'm just tired of getting picked on, and doing nothing about it" he sighs. "C'mon. Just stand up to them. You don't have to hit 'em. Did you see me? I just cussed 'em out and they left!" I explain. He nods. "Your right. Thanks Ken" he says and gives me a small hug. I hug him back as Kate walks up to us. "Ready for homeroom?" she asks excitedly. We have homeroom together. Which is English. We walk to homeroom, and sit down in the back as usual. We talk for a few minutes, until Chase Evans comes in roughly kissing Victoria Dadalina. He's kissing a new girl almost everyday. "Ugh I wanna punch him in the gut" Kate mumbles. Chase is one of the few people who make her mad. I just glare at him angrily. "I'd love to kill that guy...." Ian mumbles after Chase finally stops, and sits next to Victoria. He looks at us and we both nod approvingly.
The English teacher comes out, he's really old, talks in a monotone voice and wears nothing buy flannel shirts and overalls. I fall asleep a few times but Kate wakes me up.
We finally get to leave after what feels like forever. Next I have Science, which is the one of the only classes I don't have with Kate or Ian. I wave goodbye to them and trudge to Science. One of my least favorite classes. I sit in the back corner and pretend to take notes, while the old lady drones on and on forever. I'm one of the first people to walk out of the room, and walk lazily down the hall. I find Ian walking to Geography. Same as me. "What's your least favorite class?" I ask. "Uh, probably Math" he answers. I nod in agreement. Although we have one of the best teachers, it we both fail math. I walk into geography and do my bell work. The teacher here is extremely strict.
In the middle of class, while the teacher is lecturing us about import and export laws, Ian passes me a note from behind. I take it and it says, 'How much longer is this class?' I sigh. I was thinking the same thing. That's all I think at school. 'i don't know. it better be soon' I write back. We leave and head to History. Not together though. Me and Kate have History together. "Hi!" she says happily as she meets me in the doorway. "Hey.." I answer unenthusiastically. She's used to me being depressed all the time, yet she still acts perky.
