You say we're perfect
A perfect family
You hold us close for the world to see

Peter was the son of a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist, Tony Stark, and his loveable wife, Pepper Stark. They're what every family wants. Pepper is a caring mother who wants what's best for her son. Peter is a great son, gets greats grades, listens to his parents, does his chores without needing to he asked. And Tony is... the best father Peter could ever ask for. Until he wasn't.

And when I say you're the
Only one I've ever loved
I mean those words truthfully

Pepper and Tony have a rule, 2. Every 2 weeks they have a night o themselves, every 2 months they have a week to themselves, and every 2 years they have a vacation for however long they like, usually not long since they can't be away from Peter for too long.

Tony was the one who suggested it because he wanted to be better for Pep, and well, it stuck. They've never missed an occasion. Until Tony did.

But I know
Without my son
Your love could disappear

It's on Peter's 18th that Tony called him into his office. He sat Peter down and talked to him about taking over the company. Peter knee what he wanted, and that was the company, but also his father, so he proposed the idea that they both co-run it. And strangely, Tony declined the offer.

And though it isn't fair
But I don't care
Cause my love will still be here

It was the first time Peter saw his mother cry.
Peter couldn't sleep so he went to his mother to complain. He quietly open the door and saw his mother, on her and Tony's bed, hugging a photo of all of them on Peter's graduation day. He sat down next to his mother and hugged her. They just sat there and cuddled. Pepper explained everything carefully the next day over breakfast.

You can build me up
You can tear me down
You can try but I'm unbreakable

It has only been 3 months since tony had left them, and they were...getting there. He had managed to convince himself and his mother that it was all going to be ok, but Pepper didn't really believe that. Tony wasn't his father anymore. He was a coward that ran away, leaving everything behind. His son, his wife, his company, his life.

You can do your best
but I'll stand the test
You'll find that I'm unshakable

Pepper still loves Tony. Peter knows that. And he hates it. Tony doesn't deserve Peppers love, or his maybe new wife, or anything he has at the moment, wherever he is. Peter came back from this, problem, quickly, knowing Tony wasn't worth it. Pepper says she has, but really hasn't, and that's ok. Peter just needs to help on her feet and she'll be back in no time. Pepper was strong. But it didn't hurt to have help.

Wen the fire's burnt
When the wind had blown
When the water's dried
You'll still find stone

It has been a few years and they've recovered tremendously. They've gotten rid of any sign tat Tony was once in their life, besides they articles and a few questions here and there. She was now running the company, and she's now one of the wealthiest woman–people in the world thanks to Peter helping her back to normal. And possibly being stronger than before. They're together, and that's all they need. They're finally happy again, without Tony.

My heart of stone.
