When Maxx woke up, he went into a panic. "Cody? Where the fuck are you?" Maxx shouted. He looked in the bathroom but found nothing. Maxx quickly put on sweats and a T-shirt, and ran out of his room to his mom's room.

He never understood why his parents had separate rooms, but he was thankful. Maxx didn't knock, or say anything at first, just falling into his mother's arms. "Maxx what's wrong?" His mom asked.

"I, I can't find Cody and I'm scared." Maxx rushed. "Here- calm down first and we can look together." His mom said, a sympathetic tone to her voice.

Maxx paused. "Oh no. Oh no no no no no." Maxx mumbled, he quickly got up. "Where's, where's dad?" Maxx asked, his breathing becoming irratic. "Throne room, why?"

Without another word, Maxx ran out the door, and his mother followed. Maxx rushed out, and stopped in his tracks at the door frame. "Cody!" He screamed.

Maxx's dad was holding a sword to the demon's neck. Cody's arms were tied behind his back, and for the first time, his wings were out.

Maxx's eyes met his dad's. "What the hell are you doing?" He shouted. "Something I should've done to you years ago." His father answered. "Oh, because beheading your son is 'king like' behavior, right?" Maxx said.

Maxx moved closer. "Let him go." Maxx demanded. His father didn't move. "You really want to start a fucking war just because you have this much spite?" Maxx asked, trying to keep his voice down, and ignore the growing fear inside him.

"What, a war for a single demon?" His dad questioned. "I mean, when that demon happens to be Lucifer's son, then yes." Maxx answered. Something in his dad's eyes changed.

"You're, the prince?" His dad asked. "Kinda." Cody stated. Maxx's dad hesitantly put the sword down. He shoved Cody forward. "I don't want to see you here again." The king stated.

"Kelsi, please." He said. Maxx's mom snapped her fingers, opening a portal. "So you guys can do it too?" Cody asked. "Demons can?" Kelsi asked. "Yeah, we just don't feel like taking over Heaven, so." Cody said.

He walked over, standing next to the portal. "Wait." Maxx said. Cody turned, and watched as Maxx walked over to his dad. He stood for a minute, before landing a hard hit to his nose.

"For one, don't judge people from the outside. Two, don't make assumptions off stories. Three, don't ever fucking touch him again." Maxx said. His dad sent a glare at the young adult, touching the spot Maxx had punched.

"Sorry, least I didn't give you a bloody nose." Maxx commented, mockery obvious in his voice. "You're never gonna be worthy of being a king." His dad spat out.

"And I care why? I know I'd be able to rule better than you, even then, I don't want to at this point." Maxx stated. "You're supposed to hold our honor Maxx, not go against it." Maxx's dad argued.

Maxx clapped his hands together, letting them fall. The portal behind Cody closed. "Do what you want, I'm not changing." Maxx said. He reached up, grabbing his halo.

"Put it back, and reopen the portal." Maxx's dad ordered. Maxx didn't move. "I've always wondered how easily one of these broke." Maxx said, holding the ring up. Less than a second later, Maxx tossed the halo to the side, the item shattering into little pieces.

Maxx could see anger blazing in his dad's eyes, and was just waiting for him to snap, but at the same time, he knew Cody would too, which caused more worry than anything. "Go ahead, prove that you're worse than the king of Hell." Maxx bit out, spite laced within his tone.

A minute passed, nothing happened. The tension was so thick, you'd think you could cut it with a knife. "Exactly, you won't. Because he's here." Maxx stated turning around.
