Maxx walked up to the pair, anxiety obvious in his posture. "Maxx, sweetheart, smile, you're gonna be a king soon." His mother hummed. "Yeah? Because dad has a death date planned?" Maxx remarked.
"What has got you so worked up lately?" Maxx's father asked. "Oh, I don't know, the fact that everything we've ever said has been wrong about demons, the fact that you hate gays, the fact that you won't let me be what I want. What do you want me to start with?" Maxx answered.
"Why are you so mad about our opinions on homosexuals?" His mother questioned. "Maybe because I'm one. I'm gay, okay, deal with it, and I don't want to be a king and have to have a queen! And stop bringing me girls to meet, I've already fallen in love with someone!" Maxx began.
"Like who?" His father asked, anger flooding his tone. "Someone who you would've already disowned. By the way, it's kind of pathetic when a demon supports your son more than you fucking do." Maxx growled.
"You aren't supposed to communicate with them!" His father yelled. "Well maybe, just maybe, I'd rather live in Hell than here!" Maxx screamed. A look of sorrow followed a look of disgust on his mother's face.
"I'm, fucking, done." Maxx stated, his voice stern yet on the verge of breaking. Maxx reached up, grabbing his crown, then chucked it across the room. The crown shattered into pieces, making his mother let out shriek. His dad moved closer.
"Listen here, I don't know where attitude came from but I want to see no more." His dad snapped. Maxx locked eyes with the man. "Do it. Hit me. Nothing you do now is gonna change me." Maxx said, his voice cordial yet laced with venom.
What he didn't count on, was his dad actually hitting him. Let alone sending a punch to collide with his nose. Maxx kept his word, calmly bringing a hand up, and wiping the dripping blood beneath his nose.
"What a great fucking father you are." Maxx bit out. Before his dad could make another move, Maxx was running to his room. His mother chased after, tears flowing down her cheeks.
Maxx slammed his door shut, his mother a foot behind, though the prince never noticed. Instead of knocking, his mother carefully sat outside the door, trying to stay quiet.
Meanwhile, Maxx hastily attempted to call Cody, thankfully succeeding. As the phone rang, tears began streaming down his face. "Maxx? Baby what's wrong?" Cody asked, his voice full of worry.
"Please come get me. I don't want to fucking be here anymore." Maxx weeped. Before he knew it, the phone was disconnected and Cody was next to him. Cody's eyes were full of panic.
"Maxx, what the hell happened?" Cody asked, his voice full of care. "I got in a huge argument, and-" Cody cut him off by wiping off blood from his top lip. "Who did this?" Cody asked, his voice cordial, but Maxx knew he was pissedpissed by the way red speckled the bottom of his blue eyes.
"No one." Maxx mumbled. "Don't lie to me Maxx, who did this?" Cody repeated. "My dad." Maxx whispered. Cody let out a sigh, just pulling the angel into an embrace. "I'm not taking you with me." Cody stated.
"Why?" Maxx questioned quietly. "Because, you'll regret it later. And you're in the middle of a fight, you're mind isn't working right. You're fueled by rage, your actions aren't as smart." Cody stated.
"Okay, but if this happens again, promise me you will." Maxx said. "I promise." Cody hummed. Cody continued to caress Maxx's back in attempt to calm him down.
Cody could tell the angel was cold, not because he was shaking, but because the demon himself was beginning to feel cold. Cody began to slowly stand up, bringing Maxx with him.
