In the year 2019 alone 896 people have died due to police shootings. The average US citizens is over 10x more likely to be killed by a police officer than be caught in a terrorist attack. Police brutally is defined as "The unwanted or excessive and often illegal use of force against civilians by U.S police officers. Forms of police brutality have ranged from assault and battery(e.g., beatings)to mayhem, torture, and murder." It can also be the intimidation or harassment of a person. Police brutally may be illegal but many officers walk away without charge. In 2011 officer Jason Stockley shot and killed Lamar Anthony Smith. In 2016 officer Dominique Heggan-Brown shot and killed Sylville Smith. In 2014 officer Darren Wilson shot and killed Michael Brown an unarmed 18 year old. All were unarmed. All were African American. All were found not guilty. Police are not all to blame. The Atlantic states " Officers aren't just told about the risks they face. There shown painfully vivid, heart-wrenching dashcam footage of officers being beaten, disarmed or gunned down after a moment of inattention or hesitation. They're told that the primary culprit isn't the felon in the video, it's the officer's lack of vigilance." Not only does this make the officers paranoid but it makes them all think one thing "That's not going to be me."
