We ran through the tunnel leading from outside to the hospital. Emma and Mr. Cew shifted back into human form, their clothes materializing with their skin. My friend laughed and threw her arms around me. Her eyes sparkled with energy.
I can feel it, Ava. I can feel the lightning. And wolf form is so much fun. I feel so free, she said, her voice breathless. I laughed with her, and ran beside her in the tunnel. We didnt care about making noise.
We burst into the hospital. I was full of energy, high off of the power of the storm. I felt it raging above me, a beast waiting to destroy everything in its path. It was my twin, the beating of my heart and soul.
We split up in the cafeteria. The four others raced down the four hallways, while I stood in the middle of the room. I climbed upon a table, and looked around. My Giratina genes made the darkness seem like day, but I knew that the FAWE didnt have my sight.
With a little lightning at my fingertips, I lit a few lanterns. I summoned wind, happy that it all came so easily. The wind carried the lanterns over to my table, careful not to blow out the flame burning in their hearts. I set the lanterns around me in a circle, so I was surrounded and illuminated by bright orange light.
Mr. Hink was the first to arrive, with the green-and-brown robed Earth elementalists behind him. They all blinked at me in wonder and confusion, but my father simply smiled. He leaped upon a nearby table, and did the same as I had. The kids shrieked when they saw the lightning in his hands.
Caleb, Emma, and Mr. Cew did the same thing. All the kids had the same reaction. I was amazed by Emmas control of her electricity, considering that only a few hours ago, she thought that she was a FAWE, and Giratina were just in stories.
I looked around at all the children. Some of the older elementalists were crouched, ready to spring. I saw snarls formed on their lips, and simply smiled. Dont try to fight us. Giratina are more powerful than FAWE. We will crush you to atoms, I said.
Some of the kids screamed. Others backed away. I smiled, and raised my hands in the air. In each palm, a globe of lightning formed, illuminating me further.
I am Ava, the WhiteBlood of the Giratina. You are all FAWE, through and through. I am here, now, to tell you this: do not fight us. Let us be your brothers and sisters once again. We do not want another war. But if you fight us, then we will consider it an act of war, and we will fight you.
A kid stood up, and I recognized him. Nicolas. He glared at me, and said, You corrupted everyone! You hurt Mr. Cew, you changed Emma, and you used your black magic to alter Mr. Hink! You deserve to die, just like all the Giratina!
Listen to me, children! Mr. Hink shouted. I heard anger in his words, and his brown eyes were locked onto Nicolas. My father didnt like threats against me.
I am known as the Historian of the Giratina. I have been in hiding here for years. Ava is my daughter. She was trained by the Trainer of the Giratina, Calebs father. The Giratina have been in hiding since long ago. We have slowly built up our ranks again. We do not outumber the FAWE, not by a long shot. But we have more power than you do, more control. But we also have more empathy. So, we are giving you a choice, now, young ones: help and join us in friendship, or perish under our lightning bolts, Mr. Hink said.
The children stared at him as if he were mad. I thought about the adults on the beach, people that I had killed with barely a thought. Unlike them, though, these children could make a choice. They could put aside their hate, their fear, and join us. They could change.
Finally, one of the older kids stood up. He looked to be about twenty, and was dressed in the blues and light greens of a Water elementalist. How do we know that we can trust you? Our stories say that you killed hundreds of us in our beds. What can you do that can make us believe that you mean us no harm?
