Eddie's POV

So I decided, since the dance is around the corner, why not ask Richie? I know what your thinking. How the hell are you going to do that? Well, I'll tell you. So I was thinking, I'll ask, "Hey Richie, so everybody is talking about the dance, so I was thinking, and you totally don't have to, no pressure, will you go to the dance with me?" And if he starts to look suspicious, I will say, "Like with me, and the rest of the losers. Obviously." Or something along the lines of what I just said. So it's like asking him to the dance, but not. So that way he's not rejecting me! YOU'RE A GENIUS EDDIE!

I walked to school, avoided Bowers and his gang, and made sure to walk to class when everybody was, even though it was chaotic, nobody would see me due to my height, so no one could call me names, etc. The usual routine.

I was about to walk into my last period class, (which I always got to 5 minutes early, I don't know why either) when Richie stopped me.

"Hey, can I talk to you for a second?" He asked he looked kind of nervous.

"Sure Rich. About what?"

He looked around, the millions of kids roaming the halls. "Not here. Too many people."

He grabbed me by the wrist into the bathroom. He looked under and over the stalls to check if anyone was listening to our conversation.

"So you know the dance is tomorrow right?"

I nodded my head, confused about what the Trashmouth has to say.

"So I was wondering, maybe, you could go to the dance with... me." He looked down at his feet, swaying back and forth.

"Sure."

He looked up at me. Happy, surprised, and excited.

"I mean all the losers are going to it anyway, so why not?"

"Cool."

We stayed in awkward silence for a second, before he finally spoke.

"Well, I have got to get to class. Mrs. Panneton is the worst teacher and she is very strict, so I try to stay off her bad side."

I giggled. "Same."

"Bye Eddie Spaghetti!"

"Don't call me that."

"Oh you love it, Eddie, it's what makes you so, chuckalicous."

"Oh my God. Bye Rich."

He left the bathroom, but I stayed a little longer. Before I went off to class, which I was already late to, I heard Richie say 'yes! He said yes! Thank god!' I was confused, but maybe he just wanted all the losers to go to the dance with him. Nothing special.

I went off to class, and watched the clock tick, until the last bell rang, signaling for us to go home.
