"Your majesty, what is wrong?" Senator Amidala stood up. She had a look of worry on her face that let the queen guess that she had seen this before. This... this sort of vision that Queen Lamila was able to create for herself to see.
"It's nothing senator. I just need rest so I can prepare for my decision. And... would you be so kind as to visit my quarters in around an hour?" The queen replied, standing up and nodding to the other senators. "Dismissed." She added hurriedly, before walking out of the room.
Queen Lamila found it hard not to notice how many guards were always around her, following her around in obedient silence. She hadn't adjusted to all of the security yet, no matter what she tried to display to her subjects and guests.
When the queen got to her room, she opened the door quickly and slammed it on her guards. She hoped none of them felt bad, but she REALLY needed some alone time. To relax and not have to speak in a fancy manner and to be a kid again. She was only 14 years old after all, and Lamila wished that she could have inherited the throne later in her life.
Lamila took off the silver crown on her head and put it on the small wooden table next to her bed. Then she kicked off her shoes, and let them hid the wall with loud thuds. And then she flopped down on her bed, her arms spread out wide as she let a gentle breeze from the windows sweep over her.
The young queen stayed like that for a moment, then sat back up. Her eyes drifted to the drawer of her side table, the one that was locked with no keyhole. Lamila closed her eyes ad waved her hand in the direction of the table, and she heard a click as the lock opened it's self up.
Lamila opened her eyes, and looked into the drawer. Inside was a small box decorated with patterns of red paint. Inside there was a key, unlocking a secret door that very few knew about. But behind that, behind that was a treasure that was truly special. A dark gray handle lined with gold, a small, circular button on the hilt. It had been her father's weapon, which he had made when he was just a child.
The queen reached into the drawer and took out the weapon. It was smooth and cold to the touch, but it had a sense of power that made Lamila's hands tingle. Her fingers moved towards the button, slowly but surely.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. The queen quickly dropped the weapon back into the drawer, then pushed the drawer back into place. It clicked smoothly, and the queen looked up. "Come in please." She said, nervously looking at the shoes that she had kicked off.
The door opened and Senator Amidala walked into the room. She gasped as she looked around, a room full of white curtains and chandeliers and sky blue walls with clouds painted all over them. It was a sight to see, to be sure.
"Senator, please sit." The queen motioned for her guest to sit on the other end of her bed, and Senator Amidala did so respectfully.
"You don't have to be formal with me while we are in private." The senator said, smiling kindly. "And call me Padmé, please." She added.
"Senator-er, Padmé. I wanted to ask you something. I know that you became queen around the same age that I did. How did you deal with all of the stress?" The queen asked, relaxing a bit.
"Well, I knew that I would be in danger if I didn't hold my ground. I was scared for most of the time, but I knew that if I stayed close to the people that I trusted, I would win whatever battles I got myself into." Padmé replied, closing her eyes wistfully.
"That's really all I wanted to ask." Queen Lamila told her guest, motioning again for the door.
The Senator stood up, and began walking towards the door. But right before she left, the queen stopped her.
"Oh, and one more thing. Why is your friend Anakin Skywalker coming to my systems without an invitation?" She asked coldly, narrowing her eyes at the woman at the door.
Senator Amidala paled slightly, and shook her head. "I don't know why he would ever come here." She said in a strained voice, before rushing out of the room. The queen, of course, wasn't fooled. She might not want to be queen, but she knew how to be if she needed to.
"Guard!" She called to the door. One of the guards stepped into the room, bowing to the queen before asking "Yes, your majesty?"
"I want you to send a spy droid to follow Senator Amidala and record her every action until she leaves my systems." The queen ordered. The guard bowed again, and left the room.
"So, now I guess being neutral is our choice for now." Lamila murmured to herself, before getting into bed and driving to sleep.
