i was woken up by my phone buzzing like crazy. i sat up in bed and looked at the screen, seeing that i had received five text messages; all from my boyfriend anthony.

anthony <3: hey u awake
anthony <3: baby
anthony <3: wake up
anthony <3: meet me at the park
anthony <3: please?

i looked at the clock, which read 2:45 am. that was way too early for me to even think about getting out of bed, but i haven't gotten the chance to hang out with anthony lately because we've both been so busy. i missed him a lot and i knew that he really missed me too. i got out of bed and put on a sweatshirt and my shoes, then texted anthony that i was on my way before heading out the door. a cold breeze hit me the moment i started walking, and i immediately regretted not changing into sweatpants. i knew i looked like a hot mess, but i was too eager to see anthony to even care. it was really dark out, and i only had the faint moonlight and stars to help me see. i looked at the stars, noticing that they were practically glowing in the dark sky. i finally reached the park and saw anthony sitting in the grass, looking up at the sky. i tried sneaking up behind him but he must've heard me coming, because he immediately turned around with a huge smile on his face.

"damn it!" i said with a laugh.

"i'm happy to see you too," anthony joked.

i sat down beside him and rested my head on his shoulder.

"i missed you so much, anthony."

anthony put his arm around me and kissed the top of my head.

"i missed you too, baby. and i'm sorry i didn't pick the best time to hang out, i hate to wake you up so early."

"i don't even mind. this was probably the best time to see each other anyway. the only bad thing is it's so cold out here."

"shouldn't have work shorts then," anthony said with a smirk.

"i hate you," i said with a laugh.

i pushed his shoulder and anthony, being overdramatic as hell, fell over and pulled me down with him. so there we were, anthony lying in the grass with me lying on him. i glanced at the sky and noticed that the stars looked a lot brighter than before.

"anthony, look at the stars! aren't they beautiful?" i asked.

"they sure are," he replied, keeping his eyes fixed on the sky. "sometimes i like to come out here at night and just stare at the stars for a while."

"me too. and sometimes i'd count them," i replied and anthony nodded.

i moved closer to anthony and he held me tighter. we were just lying there in silence, watching the stars. they seemed like they were moving across the sky, if i stared at them long enough. suddenly, another cold breeze picked up, making me flinch.

"poor baby," anthony smirked. "you're freezing. come on, sleepy head. we need to go back."

he stood up and offered me a hand, and together we walked home. i was about to head inside, but i went right back to anthony and hugged him tight.

"thank you for this," i whispered. "i had a great time with you."

"even though i woke you up so early?" he smiled.

"it was worth it."

i turned to go inside but anthony stopped me.

"wait before you go inside, i have something for you."

he pulled me close to him and kissed me, which we've been waiting to do again. after a few seconds we pulled away and i headed back inside, my heart was so happy.

best date ever.
