I am driving towards High Park and I am wondering if it is a good idea to be meeting Brian. The police don't actually have anything on him and maybe he can help me shed some light on the situation, maybe clear some things up. Although, I still have this funny feeling in the pit of my stomach. It's not like he can do anything in broad daylight in front of a crowded park so I have nothing to worry about, I will be safe.
My phone rings and interrupts my thoughts.
"Hey Kate. What's up?"
"Nothing much. Listen I was wondering if I can see you today?"
"Umm, sure. I'm going to meet Brian now, we can meet up after."
"No! Don't go see Brian! You hear me?"
"Kate what..."
"Mila listen to me! I have to tell you something. Don't go meet Brian. Can you pick me up at my place?"
That feeling in my stomach just got worse.
"Yes. I'm coming." I say and make a turn towards Kate's house.
I get there thirty minutes later and Kate is already waiting for me in the street. She sees me and jumps in the car.
"Kate, you have me really worried. What is going on? Why didn't you want me to meet Brian?"
"I'll tell you everything just drive. I have to show you something, but first we have to get there."
"Get where Kate? Tell me what's going on!"
"Mila just trust me. Everything will be cleared up, just drive towards the docks. Toward Donald D Summerville Diving pool."
"A pool?"
"Yes, just go."
I start the car and start driving in the direction Kate gave me fast, because I want to get this over with.
We get in the vicinity, and Kate tells me to turn in an alley away from the pool. I wonder where this is going, but decide to follow her directions. We reach a small parking, which I guess people who come to the pool use, when the big one is all filled up. I park in the first available space and that is the last thing I remember.
I wake up some time later tied to a concrete column inside, what I think, is the some abandoned building. My head throbs and I feel sick, like I want to throw up. I try to look around, but my vision is hazy. I can tell that it is a vast empty space, a concrete building, like a factory or something. I try to move my arms, but the rope digs in to my wrists, it is tied too tight. My feet are tied as well. Panic starts to settle as I begin to understand the situation.
"It was about time you woke up. I was contemplating kicking you until you did."
I hear Kate's voice.
"Kate? What are you doing? What is this?"
"This Mila, is me having enough."
"Enough of what? I never did anything to you."
"You are so self centered, you didn't even realize..."
"Realize what? Kate, let me go. This is a misunderstanding. We can figure it out."
"I don't want to figure anything out with you! You made a mess and it is all tour fault!" she starts to yell and I decide to change my tactic.
She is clearly crazy, and behind everything that has been going on.
I have to keep her talking."Okay, okay... I'm sorry. Whatever I did, you have to know it wasn't intentional."
