Virgil and Logan had been friends for almost eleven years. Eleven years, ever since they both started elementary school, they had known each other. They knew each other like no one ever could.
No matter how much Logan hid his emotions, Virgil could plainly see how he really felt about things. And even Virgil went to Logan so he could talk about his anxiety, and Logan would calm him down. They were always there for each other.
   They were always happy together.

It was only until recently Logan had noticed he was beginning to feel odd around Virgil. He was always so happy around him, despite his pessimistic attitude. Logan knew Virgil only said things just to be negative. Virgil really was caring and selfless underneath all the sarcasm and cynical remarks.
It was one particular day that Logan noticed something was off about his own behavior. He felt like he wanted to be closer to Virgil. To have physical contact.
They had been friends for years, why was he acting like this now? Logan wanted to at least hug him, but he fought the urge to. It would've been weird catching Virgil off-guard in the middle of his conversation.
   "Logan?"
Virgil's voice snapped Logan out of his thoughts, and he realized he had been staring at him.
"You alright, Lo?" Patton spoke up from where he sat with Roman, whose arm was wrapped around Patton's waist.
"Apologies. I just remembered I had to finish the preparations for the... Science... Thing..." Logan trailed off, glancing at the ground before getting up to leave, only giving a simple wave back to the others as he walked away.

Logan almost felt like he was suffocating. He had to do everything within his power to not reach out and hold Virgil. For whatever reason, Logan felt he wanted to at that moment.
The bathrooms were always crowded during lunch, so he ducked around the corner and opened the door to the backstage area of the auditorium.
Theater club was held there every other day, this particualer day not being a meet-up. Roman had dragged Virgil into it, and Virgil dragged Logan into it. He enjoyed it though, especially since he and Virgil could see eachother more.
Logan slumped down against the wall, allowing his jumbled thoughts to twist around in his mind.
You've been friends for years. Why do you all of a sudden feel like this towards him? You know he doesn't like you like that. You're just friends. Just friends, that's it. Telling him about your feelings would make everything awkward and it would ruin everything between you two...
Logan clutched his head in his hands, tugging at his hair. He didn't know what to do. Normally, he'd go to Virgil, the same person that had helped him with everything before. From the second grade spelling bee to the first crush of his freshman year, Virgil was there. Now Virgil himself was the thing that made him confused.
Logan closed his eyes and tried to take deep breaths. He wasn't good with emotions. He never knew what to do with them. Virgil helped. Virgil was amazing. He's so caring and sweet and... Attractive. Logan's face started to burn up thinking about him. He closed his eyes tighter, trying to shake the image out of his head.
He doesn't like you, Logan. Stop it. Stop it, stop it-
"Logan!" Virgil's voice came from the other side of the room. Logan looked up, adjusted his glasses, and saw Virgil appearing from around the corner. "Logan, what's wrong? Please, talk to me," Virgil rushed over to Logan and sat down on his knees in front of him.
Logan cradled his head in his arms, taking deep breaths. He didn't want to worry Virgil, so it was better to just tell him.
"Virgil... I... I think I might like you... Romantically," Logan tensed up, "I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to ruin our friendship. But Virgil..." Logan finally looked up at him, "I dont ever want to be without you. You have always been there for me and I care very deeply about you."
Virgil stared back at Logan, taking a moment to process everything. He glanced at the floor and folded his arms tight across his chest.
"Wow Logan..." Virgil exhaled and laughed a little, "all the time we've been together... It's all lead up to this..."
Logan paused, "Led up to what?"

"Well, I like you too, Lo. Romantically. I've wanted to say something but, I was also afraid of making our friendship awkward," Virgil relaxed and looked up at Logan, moving his hand up to cup Logan's face. "May I kiss you?"
Logan's heart fluttered. He never knew how much he had wanted to hear those words until now. "Of course."

Virgil closed the gap between them, and Logan couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. It was only a quick peck, but they both knew it spoke more than any of them could ever say.

Logan thought it was amazing how their friendship up to that point had grown into a much deeper bond. A bond that no one could break.
