Yanli loves many things:

Cooking, embroidery and taking care of her family.

Some people would have found her uninteresting, plain even.

Yanli is not a fighter, a cultivating level is not as strong as her mother but she was educated to distinguish the fierce corpse than a mild possession.

After all, she is a Jiang and her parents weren't going to let her uneducated.

Her father had ordered a special made Jiang bell for his daughter to protect her better than most.

Yanli is her father's baby girl.

The inhabitants of Yunmeng can retell the tales of a proud-looking Jiang sect leader carrying his barely walking daughter to the market. Jiang Fengmian was listening to his daughter's babbling in a language only known to her but her father was attentive to her every need.

Then there is her mother.

Yanli has been aware of the strained relationship between her parents from a very young age but also the apparent cold demeanour of her mother.

Yu Ziyuan was an untouchable woman and most people were afraid to come closer to her unless to be eager to taste Zidian.

Only Yanli was unafraid.

The little girl had spent many hours sitten on her mother's lap with her favourite doll in her arms. Despite her mother's unending shouts, she had been warmed and smelt nice.

Young Yanli had realised it was her second favourite spot to nap. Even if her parents didn't love each other, Yanli could love enough for the three of them.

Then Yanli met the Jin heir for the first time.

Jin Zixuan had been a strange little boy who spent his time speaking about roaming the country in order to protect the harmless people from the bullies of the world.

Yanli had giggled.

Jin Zixuan had scowled, thinking the little girl was making fun of him.

During this visit, her mother announced she was expecting.

Yanli was happy, Jin Zixuan had told her he has a younger brother. 

"We don't have the same name but A-Yao is a good brother." The Jin heir told her with a proud tone while Jin Guangshan had choked on his cup of tea.

Jiang Fengmian had stared at the man, already planning to break up the engagement between his precious daughter and the Jin heir.

"I hope I will have a little sister!" Yanli says with a sweet dreamy smile.

"A girl? Why? Brothers are better! Girls are weird!" Jin Zixuan retorts making the little girl looked at him clearly confused.

"Aiya! A-Xuan, that's enough! Apologise to A-Li!" Madam Jin had scolded his son who shrugs, visibly not planning to do it.

Later, Yanli heard her parents arguing with her father arguing about how spoiled Jin Zixuan is.

Several months later, Yanli's little brother was born. She had been a bit sad to have a brother instead of a sister but she decided to be a good older sister.
