PAYTON POV

Class ended and I met kamiah at the gym.

" ok girl I see you with the curls out" kamiah said while putting me on her Snapchat.

" did you see how the girls did yesterday? I had to go home to watch Pax" I rolled my eyes at the fact that I was missing out on practice because my mother didn't want to do her job.

"They looked good but you know Lilly always tryna act like she captain when you not around" we walked in the gym and I seen the same stuff I usually see before I start practice.

Dancers and cheerleaders talking to the basketball players, the ugly freshman practicing to actually start, and the dancers and cheerleaders that need extra help getting things done.

I put my bag down and stretched a little. Since I wore a sweat suit there was no reason for me to change, I just took my jacket off which left me in my fitted black crop top showing off my belly ring.

I ran my two laps around the gym like usual before everyone else so I can make sure they do theirs.

" Payton who number you wearing this year?" Jahkari asked me knowing damn well I'm not wearing nobody number.

There was ten varsity basketball cheerleaders, and eight dancers well nine now with kamiah. The basketball team only had fourteen players so it was impossible to have every girl in there own number.

" y'all ain't got a number good enough to be on my back" I said and he laughed and shook his head.

" not even koi's huh?" He said and I looked over and him and Lilly all caked up like usual.

" oh please, little mis thing would shit her pants" we laughed.

It was now 4:00 and I started practice. When practice was over I grabbed my bag and headed outside.

" hey Payton do you think I can get a little extra time with my dues my dad just paid my sisters track fee. He gets paid in two week I promise I'll have it then." Tati came up to me. I knew about her house problems and was never going to judge her. She was a good girl and I knew if she said she was gonna pay the money she would.

" yea girl, two weeks don't forget" I smile came on her face. While I thought about the money I would have to pay for her so she would get her uniform in time.

" thanks, oh there's my dad I'll see you tomorrow" I watched as she got in the back of her dads silver mini van.

I took my phone out and called my mom to let her know I was ready. The phone ranged and ranged and I called and called.

I knew kamiah already left because I told her earlier I had a ride. I put my headphones in and started walking.

As I got to the front of the school I felt a car slow down next to me. I looked over and seen koi's car.

" girl what the hell you doin? It's bout dark as fuck and you walking around in that sweat suit and them shoes like you not not gonna get touched." He said out his window driving as slow as I was walking.

" What does it look like I'm walking home" I looked forward trying ignore him.

" You know i can give you a ride right?" He said with a laugh.

" you already did this morning, I'm fine" I stoped waiting to cross the street.

" Payton just get in the car" I ignored him and looked both ways.

" Payton ! Get in the car !" He said like he wasn't playing.

I rolled my eyes and walked over to the passenger side.
