Chapter 3

We all hopped on to Nina's parent's van. After reaching her house we ate, hung up our wet swimming suits and played some games. After eating dinner, we all changed into our pajamas and got ready for bed. Bed? No, not bed but a slumber party.

Maddy had her polka dot pants as her pajamas and I had my ugly plain light pink ones. While the other girls we telling stories, we decided to watch one on Nina's laptop. We couldn't find a horror so we watched Maze Runner instead. It was amazing.

Shortly after the movie ended, the girls called us to join them.

I jumped on to one of the 5 mattresses on the ground that were covered with overloading blankets. Maddy sat right next to me. Everyone was in a messy circle and Nina was the one talking.

"Finally Rose and Maddy came," Chen said as she curled her thin brown hair, "she just wouldn't tell us this 'secret' of hers because everyone wasn't there!"

"Yeesh," I said.

"Okay, come on! Tell us Nina!" begged Zahra.

Nina took a deep breath and got out something from her neon pajamas. "This is the thing. The thing I was talking about to Sasha." Sasha looked like her eyes were about to pop out when she saw the container in Nina's hand. I wondered what was so special about it.

"This is the drug that the government has been giving to divers that are on special missions." She said as she pulled open the lid of the small container. Inside the container were some pills.

"Exactly what?" Chen asked.

"Does this mean if we drink this, it's illegal?" Zahra asked.

"Precisely," Nina replied to Zahra.

"I SAID, WHAT DOES IT DO!?" Chen demanded.

Maddy and me leaned closer to Nina. Everyone did.

"It can help you breath underwater for 110 minutes...with the help of this, you can have...gills," she stated.

Everyone gasped. No way, how could it be?

"Do you have proof?" I asked after a long moment of silence.

"I tried it," she replied, "and it worked."
