P.O.V. Clytie

I felt myself drifting, my soul flowing through the water and Earth when a sudden tug pulled at me. Confusion lit like a spark when I felt a presence towards my Earthly, dying body. Then with a sudden jerk I was pulled back into my Earthly body and grasping for air.

I sat straight up and pain spread through me. After many short breaths I looked over in confusion as to why I was alive only to find the most handsome man I have ever seen.

He had light brown, ruffled, wavy hair. A round nose with a straight bridge and sharp cheekbones. His lips were slightly chapped and red but his eyes-oh his beautiful blue eyes reminded me of the lake after a light rain shower with a brightly lit sky. They sparkled with interest, confusion and admiration. He stood tall at a good 6'5 feet with muscles showing through his shirt.

His mouth fell open slightly and he dropped to his knees next to me. His eyes glistening with tears, from what I did not know but I didn't like seeing him sad. He suddenly wrapped me into a hug with my head pushed tightly against his chest.

"Your alive." He sighed in relief. I giggled from the awkwardness of being squashed by a stranger.

"Um yeah, I guess I am. So not to be rude but who are you?" As I asked this he pulled me to him even tighter.

"I'm Conall Gage. What is your name angel?" Angel? I'm not an angel, I'm a nymph. Oh wait that must be some kind of pet name. Huh I kind of like it. Wait he just asked me a question, what was it? Name! He wanted my name.

"I'm Clytie Nadia. Do you think you could stop hugging me now, not that I don't like it just odd being hugged by a strange man?" I shifted so I could look at his perfectly sculpted face and as I did his features took on a look of surprise at my question. He slowly loosened his grip but didn't completely let go of me.

"You were dead. I thought I lost you." This caught me completely off guard considering we had never met before.

"Um yeah I did die. I'm just going to go now." I was not about to stick around considering I was the last of my species and wait for him to sacrifice me to make his species stronger.

That's how it works, if your the last of your species and get offered as a sacrifice by another supernatural species they will be the strongest until another kind dies and there is only one left. That's why I almost wanted to die without a soul mate on my 17th just so I wouldn't die that way.

His face turned into one of surprise and his grip loosened. I took the opportunity and hurriedly got up. Knowing Conall could follow me on land I took a step on the water, controlling it with my mind to hold me up. I walked across the lake feeling alive once again. Wait! Why am I alive? I shouldn't be alive. My soul should be completely tied into nature by now. My thoughts were interrupted by Conall yelling my name.

"Clytie, please you can't leave. I would never hurt you. I could never hurt you!" His voice rang out sounding desperate. For some reason I believed him but why would he care so much unless-

"You're my mate!" He cried.

Well that escalated quickly.

Hello my beautiful readers!

Ok so this book is my first ever fantasy novel. I would always love feedback and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

Before every update I try to do a quick edit but like I said it's quick not perfect. Also this book is going to have a lot of twists and turns and will probably never go like you think it will. (I have most of it planned out.)

Please stick with me through Facing Death and see what you think. also I understand these chapters have been very short, they will get longer as the book goes on. ok so now that I've written you a second short novel in my first one, goodbye and until next update!
