"Lilah come down stairs this instant the guests are arriving!" My mother echoed from the bottom of the stairs. A soft sigh escaped the lips of my mouth as I stared blankly at myself in the mirror. My short blonde hair was perfectly placed in an up do but I hated it. I hated these stupid parties. It was all just a show for my mum and dad to fault their wealth to the people they called 'friends'

"Coming!" I shouted back, trying to be as enthusiastic as I could possibly be. From an outside prospective I had the life of dreams. My family had wealth which meant I would never have to work a day in my life, I had my own tutor, my own housemaids, I had everything people wanted. Did I enjoy it? No. But now wasn't the time to act ungrateful.

Finding the effort, I finally pushed myself away from my vanity table and looked over at myself one last time. A long, red dress clinched itself to my body without looking to revealing and it was complimented by the finest silver jewellery. Exiting my room, I noticed that my house was starting to flood with people who I had never seen before. Majority of the men were wearing the finest, most expensive suits I've laid by eyes on and they were accompanied by their wives who wore elegant, overpriced dresses. Nobody here was my age, They were a lot older than me which caused my palms to sweat slightly.

"Oh you look gorgeous Lilah!" My mother beamed as I reached the bottom of the stairs. Her smile was forced as she straightened out the creases in my dress.

"Let's leave your father to business and let's get a drink!" She added, taking my hand.

My eyes darted around the foyer to my house as my mother practically dragged me over to the bar. I shouldn't let her drink but in this case the faster she got drunk, the faster she would leave me alone so I could return back to my room. Half a smile crawled onto my lips as my mother passed me my drink. I had no idea if it was even alcoholic at this point, I just prayed it was.

"Thank you" I responded, clinking my glass against hers.

I raised the glass to my lips and cautiously took a sip.

Yes, definitely alcohol.

A sour expression took over my face as the alcohol burned my throat but I would need a few to get me through the night. My mother laughed at my expression whilst drinking her drink like it was water.

Her attention was then caught by one of her 'life long friends' who had just entered. She wasn't her friend, she was obviously there purely for the social status but my mother was so naive she played along.

"I'll be back in a second, order another!" She chuckled whilst waving her empty glass in the air.

Turning to face the bartender I then finished my own drink, gulping it's contents until there wasn't a single drop left in the glass. The bartender just chuckled at me and began to pour our next drinks.

"Single bourbon on ice please" an unfamiliar voice asked. I looked up from my empty glass to see this giant man towering over at me. His pale red hair was slicked back showing his entire face that flowed in my direction.

This guy isn't old, Is he supposed to be here?

"What's a pretty girl like you stood at a bar alone for huh?" He asked, not looking in my direction.

Wait is he talking to me or?

It was obvious he was talking to me! There wasn't anyone else at the bar besides us. My body tensed slightly as the only thing that escaped my mouth was a nervous giggle.

"I- I'm just waiting for my mum she's just over there-" I replied pointing over to the door where I saw my mother last but to my surprise she had vanished.
