Astrid finished off the bouquet with a small string of twine. She placed the sunflowers on her organized desk and adjusted the cup for watercolor brushes. The song on her vinyl changed and she began to hum softly. She shifted the navy blue curtains and propped open her bay window. The soft material danced in the breeze, peacefully ruffling the girls hair. A flicker of green caught her attention. The room was dark and filled with rich greens and shining silvers, 'ah, a Slytherin' she thought. She had no hate toward them, but she recognized the prideful way they paraded their house status. Of course, she couldn't talk, she proudly displayed her eagle colors. Something flew into the room landing on her easel. Upon a closer look, it was a paper airplane. He looked out his windows. She peeked out her curtains, brown hair falling into view. The boy sent her a questioning expression. She smirked in return.

Sure enough, 8 days later, the Black family hosted a dinner with the Blythe family. After a dinner prepared by the house elf, Kreatcher, who had quite liked Astrid, the parents left the children to chat and went to the sitting room. Sirius went up to his room to send a letter, most likely to 'Potter' as many called him. Regulus and Astrid went up to his room and sat on the boys green clad- window seat. They talked about everything, their family's, hobbies, school subjects, favorite foods and colors, even their opinions of the Hogwarts houses. Regulus finally learned that the girls name was Astrid. Regulus learned that Astrid was a Ravenclaw that was addicted to coffee and loved books, records and watercolors. He learned her favorite snack was the cookies the Blythe's family elf, Milly, baked and her favorite subjects were Potions and Magic Law. He learned that the plants in Herbology did not like her at all. He learned that her favorite color was blue, not sky or navy blue, but the blue that overtook the sky right before it is plunged into midnight darkness. Like the blue reflected off the black lake after the sun sets and right before it rises. He learned that she was a naturally cold person, always needing a blanket or a sweater and fuzzy socks. He learned that maybe, just maybe, he found a new friend, someone who he could stick with. Astrid had a whim of mystery and Regulus always enjoyed a mystery.

Astrid learned many things about Regulus Black. She learned that he was a Slytherin that really liked hot chocolate and astronomy. She learned he loved sketching and randomly doodling everywhere. She learned that inside, he was very, very different from what he was depicted to be. She learned that he was organized on the outside, but a hot mess on the inside. She learned his favorite color was green. Not just any green, the green of the view of the black lake from the Slytherin common room. It was familiar to him, it was his home. She learned that he was a teachers pet and loved Potions and Astronomy class. She learned that even though he wasn't the best at it, he quite like Herbology class. She learned that maybe, just maybe, she found a new friend, someone she could stick with. Regulus was certainly different than what he seemed, he was interesting, Astrid had always liked interesting people.
