"So this was where you ran off to?" The sudden voice made me turn around. I scowled. The female looked at me with a smug look. Her blue sharp eyes pierced through mine. The black straight bangs flowed with every movement she made. Her hands were placed on her hip as her index finger rhythmically tapped on the hem of her skirt. "Ellis." She said bluntly. "Elizabeth." I replied, giving her a cold look. My sister looked at my confusingly. "Dude, don't tell me you're still pissed from last night?" She flicked her hair over her shoulder as she continued. "It was a joke! And beside it's the truth. You would be a pretty girl. Take the complement, loser" She formed an L with her thumb and index finger and placed it on her forehead as she spoke.I barely remember what I have for breakfast, what makes her think I remember anything she said to me last night. "Alright dude, whatever you say" I said as I shrugged. I could hear her huff under her breath. "Anyways, mom is pissed," She let the s' drag on. "She came to pick us up but since I had to go on a wild goose chase to find you, who knows how she's feeling right now." Im genuinely convinced she thinks I care. I walked past my sister and pressed the button to the elevator. At this point, I need to get away from any human possible. I felt my sister's presence next to me as we both stood in silence. "Hey, can I tell you something?" Elizabeth blurted out. I replied with a small "hm" while pulling out my phone from my pocket. I noticed she turned to me so I tilted my body over to partially face her. "What's u- OW" I felt my heart resuscitate even though I wasn't going through any heart failure that I was aware of.
She punched me right in the middle of my chest. Her force sent vibrations all throughout my body. It hurt so bad, I think it even stopped my breathing for a second. Why in the hell did my mom let her take a weight training class? "Bro-.." I managed to say before letting out a few fits of coughing. I heard the elevator ding and the sliding of the doors followed. "Family or not, don't ignore me." Elizabeth said as she she grabbed my neck tie and dragged me into the elevator. "Elizabeth!" I yelled out but to no avail, now I was being ignored. I hate her.
Jokes on her, I still ignored her for the entire elevator ride and car ride home. I was so annoyed for being assaulted for no reason that I kept blacking out until we made it home. As soon as my mother put the car in park, I got out of the car and made my way to the house. I raised my hand as I got to the door and pressed against the scanner. The screen flashed green and the lock to the door clicked. I could hear bellowing growls from the other side. Once I opened the door, my mood suddenly changed once I felt those large paws pounce on me. Cerberus, my pit bull starting panting in my face as he stood on his hind legs. He was happy to see me and I was happy to see him too.
"Okay, okay, down" I ordered through my laughing. He obeyed as he got back on all fours and walked inside of the house. His body wiggled as he walked as if his wagging tail was affecting the rest of his body. Even though he was walking away from me, he still kept his eyes on me. "Family dog huh?" Elizabeth mumbled as she walked past me and into the kitchen. I swore I heard her scoff as well.I really wasn't trying to argue with a kid with anger issues right now. I took my shoes off at the door and took a peek outside. Mom's car was gone, I guess she has other things to do. I closed the door and walked upstairs to get some peace and quiet. I could hear Cerberus's nails click on the hard wood stairs as he followed me. I walked down to the end of the hallway which was where my room was. I let out a large sigh once I put my hand on my door knob. It felt as though all of my stress went away once I opened the door. I let Cerberus walk in before I did. Closing the door behind me, I let out a large 'whew'
Cerberus was already coiled on my bed. I smiled at the sight as I started to removed my uniform jacket. I laid it on top of the surprisingly drowsy ball of sunshine and walked to my window that was on the other side of my room. I grabbed the metal watering pot and opened my window halfway. I was starting to water my flower pot that was on the other side of the window sill but I heard something. It certainly caught my attention. It was laughing and my curiosity got the best of me. My hand rested against the glass of my window as I leaned forward to see better. I sort of just wanted to know what was going on.
And I wish it didn't.
I know that figure, posture and appearance from anywhere. That pristine figure that's always burned into my brain. They walked on the other side of the road, but I knew it was her. Aiko Song. I wish I didn't see you like this. Because.. who was walking with you? You were walking with him. But, he wasn't me. You smiled at him like you used to smile at me. But.. I wasn't him. Your fingers. Your fingers brushed against his ever so slightly not even a magnifying glass could see. I did though. But why? why was I cursed with seeing such a horrible scene?
Aiko. You've always have this barrier up between us. But this? You've only made it stronger. I thought I was weakening the barrier so.. just what am I looking at? You're getting farther away, You're letting someone taint you. The weight I was putting in the window made the glass shatter around me. But I couldn't care less. Aiko, why must you separate us? Why can't I be on the other side? The window pane tumbled at my feet. In a daze, I looked at my bloody hand. I looked back at the two walking figures and crushed the bits of glass that was planted in my hand.
I will be on the other side.
