"come get your fresh taiyaki!" a vendor from off the side called out.
you and katsuki turned your heads toward the loud voice. that guy had some balls of steel to be selling food in the cold ass weather. you were both bundled up in your warmest clothes. katsuki wore that pink oversized hoodie that you got him for his birthday (it was your birthday as well, he got you a keychain with a little cartoon explosion on it), the one he said he wouldn't be caught dead wearing.
—
"...OVER MY DEAD FUCKING BODY!" the blonde brother held the pastel pullover with one finger as if it was infected with diseases.
"that can be arranged." you monotonously uttered.
"YOUR SISTER PAID FOR THAT WITH HER OWN DAMN ALLOWANCE! YOU WILL WEAR THAT SWEATER YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE TWAT!" your mom howled and smacked her son on the head.
"please, you two, let's have a good time without fussing!" your dad's anxious voice broke through the yelling.
"SHUT UP OLD MAN!"
"HEY DON'T TALK TO DAD LIKE THAT, ASSHOLE!" you tackled katsuki.
that day ended with the both of you covered in bruises and sent to your rooms.
—
"thanks for your purchase! come again!" the vendor bid farewell to you as you walked away with steaming taiyaki wrapped in white paper.
"bro?"
a grunt escaped his mouth.
"i know this is outta the blue, but, like, i'm nervous about the letter." you blew on your taiyaki before taking a bite out of it. the soft bread easily smooshed between your lips and the red bean paste always surprised you, even though you've had this tasty treat a thousand times. it made you feel warm inside, a huge contrast from the cold you shivered from.
"dumbass, you're fine." he easily assured you.
"y'know, i'd feel a bit better if you showed at least a little nervousness." you put the point of your index finger on top of your thumb.
"if you're always nervous then you'll never accomplish anything." he preached.
"i guess. but look at dad! he's always nervous and look where he ended up!" you shoved more taiyaki in your face.
"hmph, did he tell you he had a dream of becoming a hero once?" katsuki nibbled on his pastry.
you looked at him, astounded. "nuh-uh!"
"oh yeah." he snickered.
"wow. i just can't see dad being a hero, he's way too timid." your head shook in disbelief that your shy father wanted to become a crime-fighting hero.
"ha! he would totally pussy out if he saw a villain!" katsuki wheezed.
you couldn't help but wheeze too. "aw, c'mon man." you lightly slapped his shoulder with the back of your hand.
he stopped laughing and his face grew serious. "don't fucking touch me again, i'll fucking kill you." he snapped.
you glared at each other for a good minute before breaking out in heaving laughter.
