Chapter 4

Nevaeh brushed a hand through her long hair as she stepped into the kitchen. The bags under her eyes became bigger and bigger every day. Especially after the nightmare she barely closed an eye anymore. Not only did she lack sleep but her body was getting skinnier too.

"Would you like some breakfast dear?" Mrs Weasley asked. Nevaeh nodded smilingly and silently sat down at the table. The rest of the people were chattering loudly which honestly felt like music in Nevaeh's ears. She despised a cold silence and loved whenever people's voices surrounded her, it made her feel less alone.

She shared a look with Ron and smiled. The two had been talking a lot ever since the night of the nightmare. Ron was funny and easy to hang out with. Plus he never asked her things about her mom which she was grateful for, she wasn't ready to talk about it anyways.

But she spent most of her time with Remus. Remus was wise and always had a good story to tell. It did surprise her when he told her about the reasons behind his scars. Nevaeh had never met a werewolf before but it made Remus even more interesting.

"Speaking of Hogwarts, what house will you be in, Nev?" Ron asked before taking a bite of his sandwich.

Fred and George shared a mischievous smirk hearing their brother call Nevaeh by her nickname. The fact that they spent so much time together didn't go unnoticed by them. They thought of Nevaeh being way out of Ron's league and teased him about it too.

"Gryffindor, Dumbledore sorted me into the house before he brought me here."

"Perfect." Ron mumbled and nervously looked away once he realized how it might sound. Nevaeh grinned to herself and couldn't deny feeling the flutter in her stomach.

"Ronniekins, are you blushing dear?" Fred smirked. Ron sent him a glare and kicked him from underneath the table. Nevaeh couldn't help but giggle. The Weasleys had been so welcoming and kind to her, they felt like family already.

After breakfast was finished the lot moved to the living room and chattered away. Nevaeh sat on the couch next to the golden trio and listened how they spoke about the recent events. One of which being Voldemort's return. Many wizards and witches did not believe this statement but Nevaeh was never one to follow the crowd. She used to be sceptic about it but after meeting Harry she was sure he'd never lie about something like that. People refused to believe him because they were afraid, they were ruled by fear.

Nevaeh raised from her seat when they began talking about something else, she had no clue what it was about and wandered off. This didn't go unnoticed by Ron and he instantly hated her absence. He could not understand his feelings, never had he felt this way about someone, especially not someone he met so recently.

Nevaeh wandered through the house and admired the interior. Apparently her father's family had lived in the house for generations and even though she barely knew the lot she felt a connection she had always wanted to feel before. Besides her mother and a far away uncle she never really experienced what it was like to be part of a family.

She stopped at the second floor and narrowed her eyes at the sight of an opened door at the end of the hallway. As the corridor was deserted she decided to take a look. The room was weakly lit but she could see a tapestry hanging on the wall. It looked immensely old and had pictures of every member of the family, though some of them looked like they were burned off.
