Chapter 15

After we were a few blocks away Claudia looked at me concerned "Are you ok?" 

"Yeah I'm fine."  I signed.

"That jerk shouldn't have pushed." 

"It's fine Claudia." 

"Whatever." she says and puts her arm back around my shoulders and I shiver at her touch.

We walked a little bit longer until we stopped outside of arcade. 

"The arcade?" 

"Yeah." she said.

"But we don't have to go in if you don't want to." 

"I haven't been to an arcade before."  I signed.

Claudia looked at me surprised "Really!?" 

I nod. 

"Then let's go!" she says excitedly and pulls me inside. 

The first thing I smell as she pulls me in is greasy pizza and sweat. It's dim but there are backlights which lit up neon patterns on the floor. There were games everywhere and kids running around. 

"What do you want to first?"  I ask. 

"Let's do ski ball." she says and pulls me over to the ski ball machines.

We kept playing the arcade games and soon it became a competition of who could get the most tickets. I was having so much fun. I couldn't believe it. I haven't had this much fun in awhile. 

After we played all the games probably at least twice we handed our tickets in to get our prize and to see how many we had. Claudia had 900 tickets and I had 860. When I found this out I pouted and looked at the ground. I really thought I had more tickets. I know I was being petty but I couldn't help myself I was disappointed. Claudia lifted up my chin and gently kissed me on the lips and pulled me close to her. I was staring at her with so much love oblivious to the girl behind the counter. 

"Ehem." Claudia glared at her for ruining our moment. 

"Yes can I have the giant sloth please. We would like to combine our tickets." 

The girl got the sloth down from the shelf and handed it to Claudia who then handed it to me. 

"Thank you." said Claudia and we walked to the area where they sold food.

"The sloth is for you."  

The surprise must have shown own my face and Claudia laughed. We ordered a pizza and sat down in one the booths. 

"What do you want to name it?" Claudia asked and I looked down at the table thoughtfully. 

"Breadstick." 

Claudia laughed "Why breadstick?" 

"I don't know. It was the first name that popped into my head. Plus I don't think anyone has named a sloth breadstick." I signed with a laugh.

Our pizza arrived and we kept making jokes and having fun. I was starting to loosen up and not be so careful. When we were done we got Breadstick out of the booth and left. We were walking down the sidewalk when I heard someone yell my name. I turned around and running towards me was Hannah. 

She ran up to me and tried to give me a hug but couldn't because of Breadstick. So I handed him to Claudia and hugged her. I heard Claudia let out a quiet growl but I don't think that Hannah heard her. 

We let go and she asks "Who is the cute little sloth?" I laugh. Little really? Breadstick was huge.

I turn to Claudia "Could you translate for me?"  she puts down Breadstick "

Who is she?" she signs back. I'm not sure I've ever seen Claudia sign before. 

"A friend." 

"Do you like her?" 

"Only as a friend."  she sighs and says "Hey I'm Claudia and this cute little guy is Breadstick." 

Hannah laughs "I'm Hannah. And Breadstick really?" 

"Hey I didn't name him Rose did." Claudia says defensively. We laugh. 

"I'm sorry but I have to go." 

"It's alright." Claudia says. 

"I'll see you soon right Rose?" I nod. Hannah beamed at me and ran off in the opposite direction. 

"She's nice." Claudia commented. I nod. 

I was back to holding Breadstick again. We arrived outside of a hotel and Claudia checked us into a room. Once I put Breadstick down I asked "What are we doing here?"  

"I thought we could hang out and have a sleep over." I smiled.

 "Let me just text my dad." Claudia nodded. 

'Hey dad Claudia asked me to come sleepover at her house with Cole and Jake so I wouldn't see you until to tomorrow.'

'Ok sweetie be safe.'

'I will. Love you dad.'

'Love you too.' 

As soon as I put my phone down Claudia jumped up on the bed with me and turned on the hotel tv to watch a movie.
