The superintendent closed the school, giving everyone a few days off. Furious parents called, demanding answers. The townspeople showed up at the sheriff's office, wanting justice. Dad had Jasmine transferred to headquarters at the State Police department. The last thing they needed was having people interfere with the investigation.

Dad interviewed with Charlie and Joe behind one-way glass.

"We gathered evidence," Dad said, opening a file and placing pictures in front of Jasmine. "I thought, it was odd that there were two birth certificates, then I remember Malia mentioned a bracelet."

Jasmine looked at Dad.

"Most of the victims were girls, except for three men. Now, I had to wonder how a female managed to strangle a male that could overpower her. The sheriff has almost two hundred pounds. We checked, and Patrick has no connection to the sheriff. We check your birth records, and you were born female as is the real killer, which you aren't," Dad announced.

"That's a lie! I'm the killer!" Jasmine yelled.

"Yeah, the killer wants us to think that, but you're protecting the killer. You helped plant the false evidence, enlisted Patrick's help to protect someone else. The truth is we picked up the real killer. It's difficult to run when you self-impose cuts," Dad said, shocking Jasmine.

He gathered the pictures and placed them into the file, then got up.

"I'm the killer!" Jasmine yelled.

"No, you're protecting the killer, because that's what you do when you love someone," Dad said, leaving the interrogation room. He closed the door. Charlie and Joe came out of the room with the one-way mirror.

The three of them walked to another room and opened the door, revealing Taylor sitting at a table. He looked at Dad, Joe, and Charlie. Dad walked over, pulled a bag out of his pocket with a bracelet inside of it. He tossed it onto the table.

"Malia gave Luka this bracelet for his birthday. He didn't want to hurt Malia's feelings and tell her he thought he lost it. You can't lose something that a person takes from you. You had the opportunity when you dated Niko," Dad revealed.

Taylor looked at Dad.

"See, we knew Gale had a child with the sheriff, which was a female. The sheriff paid off someone at the hospital to file a false birth certificate. To keep their love child a secret, they put said child up for adoption. Over time, secrets revealed themselves, and as more people found out the truth about you, you eliminated the threat," Dad explained, walking through the scenario.

He sat down at the table and looked at Taylor.

"Why?" Dad asked.

"Why care about people that abandoned you and gave you to people that don't care about you?" Taylor asked.

Dad looked at Taylor.

"My adoptive parents raised me in a town with people who judge. They lied to me about my parents. I found out who my parents, realizing they didn't love me. People are selfish, self-centered, judgmental pricks, and the worst offenders are your kids," Taylor spoke with venom in his voice.

"Innocent people died," Dad said.

"Were they innocent? Lieutenant, people, harbor secrets. This town riddled with liars. The people sent their kids into danger, without care. The sheriff allowed the killings to happen. The deputy was a pedophile. The hermit was collateral damage and a drunk. Your sleepy town is full of deviants and enjoys their secrets. They cheat, lie, and steal like your children. We all have our secrets," Taylor reasoned.
