Frankie began to feel her heart race as the crowd in the arena screamed and roared. She knew the concert was coming to and end soon, and she had hoped to be out of there before it did. Alas, the two months off she had taken had proven to throw her entire routine out of whack, and she was behind on getting the food out in time.
Mr. Bang had been generous, understanding that Frankie needed time to get over what happened. They both knew it wasn't going to be a complete turnabout, but the rest and self-care was necessary and he recognized that. But he was also stern and strict about what the details of her contract entailed. She was the personal chef for BTS, not her assistants, and not her company. It was her responsibility to see the contract out for the full year, and there were dire consequences for breaking that contract, both financially and in referrals.
So she had agreed to suck it up. She had been allowed to miss the concerts in Osaka, but there was no reason to miss the Korean shows, since she was in the country anyway. Despite how nervous she felt about seeing Taehyung, she just held onto the hope that he would be okay. He would be mad at her, even hate her, and she deserved that. Despite where she had been when Jimin answered her call and helped her back on her emotional feet, she still didn't doubt that Taehyung was disappointed in her for failing him and bringing heartache to their lives. She saw it in his eyes, that day and that night, how disenchanted he had been when he found out she wasn't carrying his child any longer. He had tried to be noble, and she still appreciated and loved him for it, but the look was there and she knew what she saw.
The crowd screamed again, indicating that the concert was over. Frankie rushed to bring out the last of the food with her team, placing everything just as she heard the doors to the room open and loud, boisterous voices flowed to her ears. She pulled the lids off of the chafing dishes, putting them behind her on the extra serving table, when she realized that all of the sound behind her had stopped. Turning around slowly, she felt her breath caught in her throat as she was met with a pair of wide, chocolate-brown eyes.
He was as breathtaking as she remembered, his body fit beautifully in his jeans and t-shirt, his hair damp with sweat and swiped back toward his ears. It had grown while she was gone, more curly and shaggy in the back than before, and it looked gorgeous framing his chiseled face. His eyes turned hard as she wilted under his gaze, the muscle in his jaw flexing as he clenched his teeth repeatedly. No one else in the room so much as moved, and Frankie knew they wouldn't until Taehyung had said his piece. She had prepared herself for it, for his tears or his yelling or rage. She steeled herself, walking out from behind the table and bowing to him politely, as though she was any other employee.
What she had prepared herself for, was for Taehyung to stalked toward her and grab her roughly by the arm, hauling her confused ass to a nearby private dressing room.
He was fast as lightning, all strength and speed as he pushed her into the smaller room and slammed the door behind him. He locked, it, turning to face her with anger and hurt in his eyes.
"Where exactly in the fuck have you been, Francesca?" he asked, his venom making his accent thicker than usual, "I have fucking searched for you, figured you ran off to the states even." He backed her against the far wall, slamming his hand onto it when she couldn't retreat further, "And then you show up here, like nothing ever happened," his face contorted between rage and sadness, "And fucking bow to me? Bow to me, like you didn't rip my fucking heart out?"
"Tae, I- "
"Don't," he closed his eyes, turning his head to the side, "Don't fucking talk. You had your chance to talk, and now it's my chance." He leveled his gaze at her, eyes burning even as tears brimmed, "I fell in love with you, Frankie. You. Not the vessel of my child, but the smart, lively, beautiful creature that you have been ever since you decided not to let some asshole ruin your night in a resort courtyard." His inched his face closer to hers, "I knew that, as much as it hurt, we would be able to get through this together. The two of us. It was going to hurt, it was going to suck, but I knew I had you and that if that was true then we could get through anything."
