A/N. In which Wheein is hungry and Taehyung finds his kindred spirit. Set during BTS' break. Tae is in his hometown with his family and Wheein is hungry for a midnight snack. The reference about Jimin being in a different time zone refers to his travelling over the month-long break. I think Suga was in his hometown too so they would have been fairly close to each other. I have no logical explanation for Wheein being in the area lol.

Tae wasn't having it. He was on holiday. He had finished binge watching the latest k-drama. He had played with Yeontan all week. And now he had nothing to do. His hands hovered over his phone. Yoongi-hyung was either too lazy to hang out with him or he had already gone to bed. And Tae wasn't about to be the one to wake him up. Jimin hadn't been responding to his texts. Probably because of the time difference, he thought absentmindedly.

Tae needed to do something. Anything. His eyes searched his room for an activity worthy of his time. They wandered over his computer, then his bed, and then they landed on his new camera. He grinned. Of course. What better way to pass the time than to take pictures.

He snatched it off its perch and stumbled into his slippers. Just as he was about to throw open the door and yell at his family to gather around, it dawned on him the darkness of the sky and how little light streamed through the crack in the door. It was two in the morning.

He tsked. They were all asleep.

A thought entered his head. He pondered for a moment. Was it worth the risk?

He looked down at the camera in his hands and in his mind's eye passed all of the colours of Geochang night life. Yup. Definitely worth the risk.

He padded across his room to pull over a dark inconspicuous hoodie. One that was light enough to stand up against the early spring chill. He grabbed a black cap and stole a mask off his desk. He pulled it gingerly over his face while simultaneously shoving his phone and keys in his pocket. He looked around for a moment. All set.

He shut the front door behind him quietly and set off down the dusty road that led to the heart of his hometown.

Wheein heard her stomach growl again. "Almost there," she said as she patted her tummy. She was positively salivating after that halmoni's ddeokboki.

She shifted her mask over her nose self-consciously. She kind of wished she was wearing a hat, but she had left the house in such a hurry that she didn't have the time. Well at least her hair wasn't some bright wild shade of red. She looked normal enough. And besides, who would be up and about at this hour? The odds of her being recognised were low.

She passed stall after stall - the metal sheets were pulled over most of them and the chairs where the sellers would be were empty. The smell of cooked meat and spice still lingered in the air, however. Her stomach growled.

Then she spotted it - a single bright light in the darkness and a grin bloomed behind her mask. The halmoni looked like she was about to pack up shop so Wheein yelled out joyfully.

"Halmoni!"

The elderly woman turned at the sound and squinted at her blearily. Wheein waved a wad of cash in the air. "Wait a moment please!"

The grandmother chuckled and nodded, removing the cover from the pot she just capped.

Wheein sprinted over in a flash and bent over before the tiny run-down stall - huffing and panting. She rested her hands on her knees as she rattled out her order in between breaths. "One...no wait, two...cups of...ddeok-ddeokboki, please."
