Cynophobia

"Pre tell me you are not where I think you are. " Said a very ambivalent Anurag.

He seriously did not know how to react. After over an hour's argument and a sleepless night due to a petty fight , he still couldn't believe his darling wife would do this.

This was one of the few areas where they both never seemed to agree.

" She knew this was one of his fears but still why wouldn't she listen to him. So damn adamant. Did she not love him ? God! Anurag. Such a trivial matter. How could you even let such a thought cross your mind. "
He reprimanded himself.

He had always believed he had cynophobia. But the truth was Prerna knew it was nothing. It was a silly fear of his which this man couldn't make heads or tails of. Being the internet gyani baba he was he gave it the name of a freakin phobia. God this guy.

So here Prerna Sharma Basu was in a dog adoption centre. She had decided she'd do this. They had a fight over this but she also knew in sometime Anurag would get so comfortable with the dog that she'd be the one getting ignored.

"I'm not going to tell you myself although you know me too well Mr. Basu. " Said Prerna.

Anurag sighed heavily. " Baby , please don't. I really don't think I'd be able to bear with this. "

" Anurag this makes me happy and this is the first time I'm not going to listen to you. " With this she cut the call. And wiped a tear that had unknowingly rolled down her cheek.

"Was she really doing the wrong thing ? Could he not adjust this much for her ? " Thought Prerna.

But the next moment she felt guilty for even thinking like this about the man who literally fought with everyone just for her. To be with her. To save her from that jerk of a man , Naveen Babu.

Just when she was lost in her thoughts and was on a guilt trip for making Anurag sad she felt something was there near her right leg.

She bowed her head down to find a golden retriever puppy licking her sandals. She was mesmerized by its beauty. The soft and lustrous golden fur. Those milky gleaming eyes. That little tail wagging with happiness. She thought as if this was the most beautiful sight ever.

She sat on her knees and started playing with the puppy. She also wondered how could Anurag be afraid of such an adorable thing. Like how ? But she also loved him too much to hurt him so she decided to not adopt the puppy.

After 15 min of playing with the puppy she realised she was getting late for work and should get going now. As she just stood up leaving the puppy on the ground she felt something tug on her kurti. She turned back to find the puppy trying to pull her dress and stop her. But she knew she couldn't and if she waited for a minute more she'd end up taking this little boy with her and this would not be liked by her big boy.

So she called the owner and returned him the puppy. And left for work.

In the evening Anurag came home and found Pre in the kitchen cooking.

" Go Anurag , get freshened up. I'll serve the dinner. " She said and got back to her work after pecking his cheek.

This was their routine but today he was expecting to get welcomed home by a little monster. To his surprise there was no one except his wife.

Also her behaviour was surprisingly normal. Didn't they have a fight in the morning. They didn't even talk to each other the whole day while usually they talk atleast twice when they are at their offices.

" What is happening? "He wondered.

He decided to get freshened up first. Then see what's cooking in his lady's mind.

He came back in 15 min and found her humming their favourite song. He thought either he's gone crazy or she has lost it.

He sat on the table. She served and normally asked him about his day. How's everything at the office ?

He was confused. He was not able to understand anything.

He then blurted out "Pre, are you fine ? Where's the dog? We did have a fight, right ? "

Hearing him all Prerna did was laugh and said " I love you Basu. There's no dog. I love you too much to do this to you. "

Anurag was shocked is an understatement. He just sat there quietly having the rest of his dinner wondering how much does she even love him that she didn't get a puppy when he knows she just loves them a lot. Probably more than she loves him. He felt guilty for thinking she didn't love him. He's such an idiot at times.

After having dinner and cleaning up. They both were watching the news when Anurag got up and just pulled Prerna in a heart warming passionate kiss.

He knew what he had to give her for her birthday the next week now.
