"Okay, let's open them at the same time," Delilah whispered anxiously.
Both girls were nervous and sweaty, ready to open their acceptance letters. They sliced open the seal with their eyes closed.
"I didn't get in," mumbled Delilah.
Amy said nothing. Delilah stated at her for at least thirty seconds before ripping the acceptance letter out of her hands.
"You got in," Delilah said with wide eyes.
Amy was still incapable of speaking. She swallowed hard and grabbed Delilah's hand.
"Lilah..."
Delilah's eyes filled with tears, blurring her vision. The two girls just stood there staring at each other for what felt like two hours. After a while, Delilah finally spoke up.
"Amy, I know you're going to say you don't want to go, but deep down inside I know you do want to. I mean how could you not? I want you to go because I want you to do something that you want to do, not what anyone else wants you to do."
At that point Amy burst into tears, the warm streams spilling out of her eyes and running down her cheeks. She knew she had to do what she wanted at this point. She knew it was all up to her. She held her breath and crossed her fingers, hoping she made the right choice.
