"Words can't explain how much I am going to miss you," Delilah said as she helped Amy load her car with all her suitcases.
"I'll miss you too," Amy replied while the two girls embraced each other.
Delilah agreed to drive Amy down to the college to help her set up her dorm room. It was several hours away, but she was willing to take the time. The car ride was fairly silent. Just the sound of the girls' favorite songs playing on the radio was the only thing that could be heard. The remainder of the evening was also fairly silent, until it was time for Delilah to leave. Once again, the tears started pouring out of their eyes, and although they finally began to talk, neither girl could understand each other. When they were both capable of choking down their own tears, they began to have an actual conversation.
"Come visit me whenever you get the chance go," Amy said, trying to fight back her own tears. I will, it's not like I am going anywhere far."
"Listen Lilah, I know this isn't going exactly how we planned, but that doesn't mean we won't be best friends. You've got a lot ahead of you Lilah, a bright future."
With that said, Delilah hugged her best friend goodbye, then slowly walked away, expecting her to run after her. But then she remembered what her mom always told her, don't expect too much because high expectations lead to drastic disappointments. She continued walking.
