"Lucius escaped from Azkaban"

"No, no, no! I'll repeat it until you deny this affirmation, Mother. It cannot be true, not after everything we went through" Draco's voice was strangled by fear, anger and disbelief.

"I would never lie to you on a matter this serious, Dragon. Especially one related to your father. Your father has indeed escaped Azkaban prison with a number of his former colleagues." Narcissa responded Draco's demand through her tears.

"Such as, Who?" Hermione asked with her normally warm brown eyes flashing with fury

"Algernon Rookwood, Rodolphus Lestrange, Rabastan Lestrange, Bellatrix Lestrange, Thorfinn Rowle, Fenrir Greyback, Colin Mulciber, Evan Rosier, Antonin Dolohov, Theodore Nott, Corban Yaxley, Walden Macnair and many others that I cannot remember." The elegant lady was dabbing her eyes with a handkerchief  while naming all the dangerous death eaters that had escaped.

"After everything we did to make sure that he remained in that hellhole. Father deserves to rot in it after everything that he did to this family and most importantly, after everything he made the wizarding world suffer through. How could this happen, all the death eater were maximum security prisoner." Draco asked angrily

"What is the ministry saying about the breakout? What is their opinion on how it could have happened?" Hermione was in deep thought and her doubts about the ethical quality of the ministry had resurfaced.

"According to the letter the ministry sent me, they still have no idea on how it could have happened. Apparently, the circumstances of the breakout are suspicious and under investigation. The daily prophet is still the same gossip rag as ever, it is all speculation. The writers are suggesting that a death eater who escaped incarceration could have freed them. They don't have much information, nobody does." Narcissa was shaken but still determined to find out who and what could've caused the breakout.

"This breakout reminds me of the one in fifth year. Everybody knew of the real cause of it but no one would admit it or share any information. It was not very hard to figure out that the Dark Lord was behind it. However, the ministry delivered a rubbish excuse to explain how it could have happened. They only did that to reestablish  their leadership and to reassure the public. Everything about it sounds suspicious. Do we have a theory on how it could've happened, Hermione?" Draco was as determined as his mother to found out the cause. He wasn't a Slytherin for nothing, after all.

"I have a theory. Remember what the sales clerk at the apothecary in Hogsmeade said..." Hermione mentioned vaguely so that Draco could confirm her theory.

"What was mentioned?" Narcissa was wondering where this line of questioning was going.

"The old woman mentioned that the ministry had recently banned any magical shops in Britain from selling anything used in the practice of ancient magic. It could be potion ingredients, potion supplies, ritual supplies, anything remotely related to the practice of our founding magic" Draco said questioningly. He was starting to see where Hermione was going with this.

"And what was Voldemort's prime objective while in power, Draco. Do you remember?" Narcissa added as she started to realize where Hermione was going.

"The Dark Lord wanted all the power, and all the ancient magic to himself. He was working on banning it with all the help from his spies in the ministry." Draco gasped as all the memories about Voldemort's goals came back to him. He went into shock when he realized what Hermione was saying.

"Which means..." Hermione continued as she waited for her two companions to answer and realise why she making those observations.

"The Dark Lord's legacy is still in the works. Hermione is right. I cannot believe I could ever believe that the ministry was completely clean of unmarked supporters that did Voldemort's dirty work. Everyone at the meetings wore masks and the unmarked supporters were rarely present and their identities were never revealed so that their position would never be compromised, even after his fall." Narcissa's voice was muffled by the palm on. her mouth. It had arrived in this position because of her shock.
