How on earth a flower did survived nineteen years of drought in the midst of a desert? Have you ever wondered? The flower survived under the scorching sun and the harsh conditions of dry, cracked dirt without water or fertile soil. Fearsome predators attacked its leaves, but all were conquered beating all odds! Amazingly, it managed to stay firmly rooted and bloomed splendidly just by following its dreams, proving the impossible, possible.
On our way to the beach located approximately 166 miles away from home, Dad stopped the car at a dilapidated zinc shop centred in the heart of a ghetto community, which was surrounded by clustered houses and lush vegetation. Joshua Alexander Sullivan my mama named me but most people nicknamed me Jamin because I was always jamming to the Jamaican reggae beats like my father.
The air was permeated with Bob Marley's single, "waiting in vain for your love."
Nothing brings back an aged memory better than an old song, it's a moment trapped in time in the beat and lyrics of the music. Our mind itself is a time machine, I thought.
Immediately, Dad's heart gave a jerk. Spontaneously, his romantic nature was activated by the compelling lyrics of the song.
"This Bob Marley song vividly brings back the unforgettable moment I first behold you at Louie's Chin restaurant in your home town," said my father Jack Alexander Sullivan to my mama SunShine Sullivan.
"Christopher Columbus came here on a conquest in search of gold and didn't discover any. But I came in search of an angel and one fell from the heavens and dropped right into my path. God you were so divine. I was blown away by your exotic and exquisite beauty.
My blood rushed from my feet to my head triggering a crush, a desire, fascination, obsession, and a passion of love. Lord is my shepherd I see what I want, gushed out naturally and unexpectedly. I was drunken by the wine of love. My heart was vanquished by the look of your smooth charming lips. Your irresistible seemingly cute face and tranquil face gazed at the glass of champagne you had in your hand, instantly mended my fractured heart and stimulated my blood impulses. Quickly you became my ecstasy. The feeling that you gave to me almost drove me crazy. My instant infatuation was undeniable and inescapable," he said pouring out his heart like a cup of water.
The song's soothing rhythm and melody baptized his soul and dissolved into his bones; it compelled him to sway his body and warbled his head, his heart skips a beat. In a flash, he gazed into my mother's eyes, stared with the strength of his undying love and whispered softly, "Baby, I love you. Words cannot express how I'm feeling right now. I'm telling you this from the depths of my heart where no one else has ever been but you sexy woman. Look into my eyes, I promise never to leave you no matter what! Me and you against the world until the rest of eternity, any storm that may arise we will survive it, together."
